I would image it's pretty stressful to be her handler, always trying to keep the house of cards from falling. In this day and age of manufactured stars ala Britney, and media voyeurism, it's like juggling chainsaws to keep all of the smoke and mirrors going. Gone are the good old days where all you had to do was talk Judy in from off the ledge.

LOL, you mean Judy Garland :D?

I'm good friends with a fella whose ex worked for SCAMdra in 2005-2006. She's :EVILLE: to her staffers.

Why can't she answer a question about if she likes a glass of wine with her meal at home and who makes her meals? They are clearly afraid of something! What is she hiding, hmm....

Because she's a hustling BS artist who cannot keep her stories straight - that is why.

There are many inconsistencies between her autobiography and her press releases. :sekret: sez several of her russipees she got from her grandmoms are made up lies.

Not to mention shitty.

She seemed pleasant enough. I wasn't like insulted by her or anything. It was just a fake attitude.

You know the type. She smiles too much. She tried to hug me instead of shaking my hand. When I asked her a question, she'd turn it around and try to act like we were having a conversation instead of an interview (good technique sometimes).

In all honesty, I wasn't sure what to ask her. The writing I do is more along the lines of political and government stories. Other than asking if she paid her taxes, I was at a loss. So I asked her questions about food. I did the background crap of how she got interested, etc. What kind of message was she trying to get out to people. Plans for the future, etc.

I took it that her PR/media rep didn't want me to ask about her personal life for a couple of reasons. First, it would break the facade. She comes across as this high society woman with even higher tastes. Basically, he didn't want me to ask why she thinks it is ok to tell us to cook with Lipton Onion Soup mix and then she is having gourmet meals at home each night.

Next, most of the interviews she was doing were with book reviewers instead of food editors. Obviously, they don't want to promote the fact that she's not a real chef. A book reviewer or feature writer isn't going to harp on that. Instead, they were encouraging us to interview these blue haired old ladies in the audience for the event.

The mixed drink question stemmed from the fact that the drinks that were being served were all these sweet fruity things sent you into a diabetic coma just by being near them. I thought it was a valid question. If you watch any of the other Food Network show, they at least least have a few episodes where they test their own food with a glass of wine in hand. Not to be a snob but if your drink gets you drunk on the first sip, how are you to enjoy the food? But maybe that's the point. I wasn't asking if she was a drunk. I was just trying to be able to paint a picture for anyone who read the article that she did sip on the vino instead of her Sangria laced with Dr. Pepper.

She's very well trained for the media. Her answers are good and she speaks in a way that helps print and broadcast journalists. I give her that credit. I just came away with the impression that she's a packaged deal.

I can't for the life of me figure out what Cuomo's doing with her, especially in this day and age of 2-for-the-price-of-1 smart-chics poli wives. She comes off like some mid-west homecoming queen wanna-be Stepford. Even Pat Nixon had a sort of quiet class that Sandy lacks.

^^^^^Totally packaged. Pre-packaged. I hate it when she kisses or hugs people who are interviewing her. It's inappropriate - and manipulative - designed to throw people off. Of course she wants to get you drunk - that way you don't have to taste her cooking.

 she put DR. PEPPER in sangria? I know she has used 7-Up, but that is seriously pushing it.

Cuomo's wife was a Kennedy woman - smart, privileged, accomplished. And she cheated on him. Hmmmmmmmmmmm, wonder why he'd pick Sandy.

^because dumb, underprivileged, and unaccomplished cheating on him would be a nice change to the routine? :P

I have this vague memory of seeing our Sandy on TV at some point, and she made it clear from some comment she dropped that the drink of choice at home for her and her then husband was scotch.
