Just saw a commercial for the marathon on Monday while watching FN. :)

Who's going to join me?

Thanks for the link, overedge. I liked the comments of the "crack team of tasters", especially:

"The aftertaste grows in its awfulness."

and

"Sitting next to a hot Brazilian soccer player would make this drink better."

OMG, I had forgotten about the vodka and tofu. But when I Googled to find the recipe, I came across this blog. Wow!!!!!

http://www.amandaandsandra.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

It's like "Julie and Julia" except the book that's the subject is Aunt Sandy's Cocktail Time! at all the pix of people making horrid faces while drinking the drinks....
:respec: I love these two.....

Not sure why Food Network Canada didn't publicize this more - I just stumbled across it by chance - but Money Saving Messipees is now being shown Sunday mornings at 10:30 am Eastern Standard Time. No repeats, so be there or be square.

I taped the first episode this morning and am very much looking forward to snarking along with it this evening... :)

You have my deepest sympathies.....now I wonder if that South Park movie was prophetic or not. We may go to war with Canada....

Puddin'Cups should be a character in the next South Park movie. "What would Aunt Sandy make?" Imagine the possibilities...

I'll most likely join you. :) I just have to put a reminder on my phone because it's likely I'll get caught up in more important things (e.g., making a fully homemade meal) and will forget about it.

YAY , the nickname is back! I am so very sorry that I don't have cable right now, but I will be following the PBP. I cannot wait to hear how she tops the scooped canned frosting (truffles),Kwanzaa cake, or her infamous petit fours (Two pies...ruined!).

If this isn't *the* worst, it's a strong contender. From the Sept/Oct magazine....

Pumpkin Martini
serves two drunken fools or one Aunt Sandy [OK, I made that part up]

ice
3/4 cup spiced rum {for two drinks?!?!]
1/4 cup pumpkin spice Coffee-Mate liquid
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin.
1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Throw everything except the spice into a cocktail shaker. Shake. Pour into glasses. Dump spice on top. Drink. Puke.

Are you serious? Puddin'Cups, the one of the crazy Jello-brand instant implants ,wants us to DRINK canned pumpkin?
This will probably taste better coming up!

So the first episode of MSM we were "treated" to was how to make cheap-ass Sunday night meals. She made fish and "chips" (I say "chips" because sliced potato ovals baked on a cookie sheet are not "chips" IMHO), spaghetti and meatballs, and some horrid ricotta-cheese concoction masquerading as a cheesecake. And then made scalloped potatoes with some leftover potato ovals.

First off, Sandy is a Grade-A LIAR. She went on and on about how much cheaper her stuff was than if you bought the same thing in a restaurant or bought it pre-made from a store. But what she conveniently forgot to mention was how much the ingredients cost initially. Yeah, 2 tbsp of lemon juice may cost $0.01 cents, but she's pouring those 2 tbsp out of a bottle of lemon juice that costs a couple of bucks!! Does she think people can go to the grocery store, grab a bottle of lemon juice, go to the cashier, and say "I only want 2 tbsp of this"??? She's full of it.

Secondly, her recipes are fcuking horrible. She put CHEESE STRINGS in the center of her meatballs!! (At the same time that she was going on about how her recipes were all "green". I guess she didn't notice the three layers of non-recyclable plastic wrap the cheese strings were packed in.) She dumps a ton of salt and pepper into everything. And when she made scalloped potatoes, she melted butter and mixed milk into it, and poured that really thin mixture on top of the potatoes, but when they came out of the oven they looked like the oven had mysteriously added flour to the butter and milk to make a proper creamy sauce. I guess she has some kind of magical oven. What a trainwreck.

Third, she mumbles. She made "turtr" sauce for the fish and chips, which we only figured out was TARTAR sauce (or some glop that was supposed to be tartar sauce) after we saw her slop it together. Plus I think she was drunk for the entire show, but that's probably not a surprise.

And finally....*no* tablescape. And *no* Cocktail Time. Mr. Overedge and I were highly disappointed. She better fix this for the next episode.
