View Full Version : Tennis in the Ten. Let's all get our sticks back out.

I agree about Azarenka; I actually think, as one-dimensional as she can be, she's a really good player, and actually is capable of more than *just* ball-bashing; against Pennetta she showed some nice touches other than just bashing. But that's the thing; I saw her against Flavia and she was VERY good IMO - so how did she lose 3 and 3 to Lapushchenkova?! She's definitely got head issues to sort out.
Trying not to get too excited about Jelena's form; she's lost her last TEN matches with Justine. :scream:

Nine, actually. :saint: but JJ, why do you torture me so? :fragile:

Awww, JJ :fragile:
I really wish this had been the final, as it was a really good quality match. Unfortunately it ended the way every JJ/JH match does...Jelena deserved to go farther than she did with the way she was playing. I can't wait until Justine is seeded highly again.

Why?! WHY?!??!?! Big Sigh. Jelena just can't get over the lil hurdle that is Justine. Next time, JJ, next time! Congrats to both players; sounds like a good match.
Have people head about Juan Martin del Potro? Apparently not only is his injury REALLY serious, but he's also suffering from some kind of nervous breakdown; according to various newspapers, he's seeing a psychologist at the moment due to recurring panic attacks and performance anxiety; he's very unlikely to play RG, more because of his mental condition then his physical one. Sounds quite  I hope he's OK; the "retirement" word has been floating around but his camp are strongly ruling that out and that he will be back but they've no idea when. Poor Delpo; I think he's a fab player, and wish him all the best.

That sucks about JMDP. I hadn't heard that; I hope he is ok. :(
Justine and Jelena's matches are usually quite good in terms of quality and shot making; shame Justine has to win all of them.

Great effort from Gulbis but Nadal marches on.
I too am shocked to hear about Juan Martin DP. Hope his mental situation can improve and he'll be back playing tennis soon.

That's too bad about DelPo. :( I hope he can get past this and get back to playing tennis at a high level.

All American final at Rome Masters! Doubles that is. :P
Sam Q & Isner versus the Bryans. :kickass: Go Sam & John! Big boys could be a force if they'd give it a more dedicated shot. A result like this -- it's on red clay -- bodes well for potential as an all-court force, ala the Bryans and Nestor & Zimonjic.

Speaking of doubles, Dulko/Pennetta won their second consecutive title at Stuttgart this year, after winning Miami! :cheer: I'd love to see this team win Roland Garros.

Allez! :saint: :cheer:

Congrats Justine. She wins Stuttgart, 6-4 2-6 6-1 over Stosur. 3rd set was  good. Gonna be hard to beat at RG.

I'm putting all my voodoo on Justine for RG! Don't let her win, tennis Gods, it just isn't right!!!

Yeah right, I am no Henin fan but nearly anyone else currently winning would be way worse than Henin. Not only is Henin winning the French almost for sure what will happen but it would be about the only practical thing happening. One of the Russian headcases fluking to their way to a lucky sort of slam (which there have already been a couple for that crop) when none of them are even playing well now would be a joke. Serena ever winning it again with her current game on clay (she is so far past her prime on that surface it isnt even funny) would be another form of embarassment to the already much criticized womens game. Kim is injured now and might not play the French, and if she does it will probably be her first event back. If she showed up cold turkey and won the French on probably her worst surface it would look worse than her U.S Open title after a long retirement did to some people. Venus or Maria winning it, ROTFL at even the thought. Wozniacki the "I cant hit a winner" pusher winning a slam would not likely do much positive for the womens game right now. Forget even considering Azarenka at the moment.
Jankovic winning it would be nice and I wouldnt mind seeing that happen, in fact I would prefer her to Henin, but I am not sure how likely that is.

Well, I love Henin's game and I would be happy for her to win, but if Jankovic wins it (yeah, yeah, I know ) I would be over the moon :saint:
