Roger going well so far; 6-3 3-2 with a break.

Something that still peeves me after all of these years is Steffi's not acknowledging that her fan's actions cost Monica multiple Slams ... and insisting that she'd have had just as much success without a crazy man taking out the competition in her name.

Why on earth should Graf (or anybody) apologise for somebody else's crazy actions? How on earth can you know that she wouldn't have won all those tournaments anyway? Seriously.

Graf was a beautiful tennis player. The Graf forehand. :swoon: Graf is totally up there in terms of the greatest players of all time. Nobody else has done a Golden Slam. Enough said.

Seles not so much. :shuffle: Plus she was the original of the grunters. And she giggled a lot in interviews. Nothing more annoying than a giggler. :scream:

^OMG, I love Steffi n all, but Seles was FAB! A real diva in the original days, she didn't care what anyone thought of her, played so differently to everyone else, and winning 6 of 8 slams in two years says enough really. And I loved her giggle; Steffi was a bit *too* guarded for my tastes. They were both amazing players, whose rivalry was sadly interrupted by some loon.

Graf won 7 out of 8 slams and an Olympic gold medal in two years. Says enough really. ;)

And Seles was a diva? Did I miss something?

Well, if you're going to talk about personality and not tennis they're not a lot I can say. ;)

Agreed.

LOL; well as I said; they were BOTH great. As was my point. :)

And originally, Seles was, yes, a tad. She used to throw roses to the crowd BEFORE matches started, went on about how her favourite past-time was using self-tan, was the first of the female tennis players to regularly do fashion/glamour photo shoots, was widely known for being a tad precious in the lockerroom, was rather frank about other players, and said she cared just as much about dyeing her hair as she did about tennis. She also made comments that she'd retire by 19 because she wanted to be an actress and was born to be in Hollywood. It was all rather harmless stuff, not proper divadom, but in comparison to the rest of em on tour at the time, she had her moments.

Don't have any opinion on Murray one way or the other, but I really don't like a doublehanded backhand. Guess that probably colours my opinion of Seles too.

^ It's weird, because I have the very same feeling about one-handers; I think that's why I've never really warmed to Henin (or Mauresmo, or Martinez, or Henman, or Sampras - I can stomach Feds)

Wheee Roger! :cheer2:

BBC commentators trying to keep positive that Murray will have his day. I'm not so sure. :shuffle:

:cheer2: Well done Roger; Andy was tight the whole match, pushed for 3/4 of the time, and choked the 3rd set away. Got schooled, really. @ the blatant deflation of the BBC commentators.

I would have been pretty shocked if Murray won today after seeing how well Federer played in the semis. As it turned out neither played their best today, but Roger's backhand and serving were excellent and overall he did more than enough to win fairly comfortably, though the end of that 3rd set was exciting.

I have a feeling this could a dominant year for Roger.

Me neither. Nice to see him show some human feelings.

Awwww Murray, grumpy missunderstood little puppy :( But that was his second Grand Slam final and he must know that third is the right one :cheer:. So he should just record a new guaranteed down-lifters hits two-handed CD and :kickass: on iTunes.

:cheer2: Federer :cheer2:

Man, poor Murray. I haven't seen the match yet so I don't know how they played. Was Murray too much in his head again?

Good for Roger, though! :cheer2: He's still my favorite.

I wonder if he'll have the chance to catch Evert and Navratilova this year with 18 GS titles a piece.
