A few more countries chose last night:

Georgia - "Shine" by Sofia Nizharadze (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9athhLCJifM)

Slovakia - "Horehronie" by Kristina (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E0VOsdRB8s)

Latvia - "What for?" by Aisha (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVFMdSgCHDw)

Irish final this Friday night. If there's a webcast, I'll post it here.

The Israeli song will be decided on March 14.

Charlie White Spanish long lost cousin :P will sing at Oslo: Daniel Diges´s "Algo pequeńito" (something small) (http://www.rtve.es/television/20100222/daniel-diges-nuestro-representante-eurovision-2010-con-algo-pequenito/319615.shtml)
Oh, he is a cutie :swoon: reminds me a bit of Art Garfunkel with a smaller nose, and the song is not that bad either.
Count on getting some points from the Israeli judge. ;)

No Put-in in the lyrics of that Shine song ;)
The problem is that the song itself is a bit

Excuse me, Sweden is the last bastion of the true blue Europop. Plus, where else can you watch the selection and think "I would like to have fries with him/her" about every second contestant? Sweden totally wuzgifted :drama:

I still can't get over last year when they chose that faux opera atrocity over the EMD "Baby Goodbye" yumfest. :lynch: Although after having to listen to "Baby Goodbye" for the 1000th time in a Stockholm gay bar, I sort of stopped questioning their choice

You and one of my coworkers both. He'd put a fair share of cash on someone else winning last year and is still grumpy about it.

With death in my heart :drama: , I must report who France TV seems to have chosen (and I can also say that the french ESC fans have aparently huge death in their heart too :drama: ).

It will be Jessy Matador of congolese origin.
He's basically unknown, but made a summer hit song in 2008, Décalé Gwada (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSjjqhQ_99g).
He should present a song named "Allez ! Ola ! Olé !" (not seen yet).
France TV wants to use this song to promote the 2010 football World Cup and and to advertise it as its summer hit song.

French ESC fans are actually furious that France TV is using the Eurovision Song Contest for some national promotion for a different event / some national self-promotion, without any will to make a result or to propose something interesting at the ESC.

Haven't heard the song yet, but wouldn't it be hilarious if it won?

:cheer2: counting with Israel and Albania :D

In Spanish boards has been pointed how much Daniel Diges resembles Spanish 1976 singer: Braulio (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-tZWCHQ2o4) I´m sorry but I barely remembered this song :shuffle:

LOL I´m trying hard not to make jokes with his surname, I can´t promise I can resist until the Festival :shuffle:

That song is gum-like addictive :shuffle:

I didn´t know France TV could be so :COP: :bribe: oriented, even more after the great entry they sent last year

Armenia - "Apricot Stone" by Eva Rivas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3Xk2ZqiwQw)

What a boring song. Bring back Jan Jan & Quele Quele!

My calendar says 7th of March is Sunday :P

The only thing I heard about the Russian selection is that an Italian singer Antonello Carozza will participate. I know him from last summer's Yurmala Festival (Russian San Remo) where he finished second. He's cute.

I'm afraid many eurovision countries may not be fans of afro-antillaise zouk music which is generally everywhere on the radio in France for summer.
But the real problem is, even if the guy looks better, he's no Magic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpFRbFLoaO4) System (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GLI9TN1GbU).
I don't really like the concept of "song of the World Cup" either, which is generally under-par. :shuffle:

Since Sébastien Tellier, France TV is convinced and has convinced the french music industry that Eurovision can be useful to promote a singer / a group (thank you, crisis of the music industry). That's why there has been singers who nobody would have never dreamt about ready to go to Eurovision, like Patricia Kaas or Willem. Apparently, the negociation nearly succeeded with Willem and when it failed, they already had Jessy Matador ready in their pocket. That's an "easy" replacement.

I thought I heard somewhere that Dima Bilan was going to participate again in the selection? Of course, I can't remember where I read that, so I could be wrong. :)

Hopefully it was a horrible, horrible nightmare that you had and it's not reality. :)

I've checked again and the site where I got the information is wrong. I'll correct my post. :drama:

He was rumoured, but that is not going to happen now.

Bilan is not on the list. ;)

I've just checked with the official website (http://www.rutv.ru/tvpreg.html?d=0&id=130322). There are 25 participants. I know only two of them. Antonello Carozza whom I mentioned in my previos post and Alexander Panayotov. It will be Alexander's third attempt to qualify. He participated in the national selection in 2005 (IIRC) and was second behind Bilan in 2008. He's got fairly strong vocals, so hopefully his song will be good too. I believe he's the favourite, unless there is an obscure young cute participant lobbied by some producer. :bribe:
