I haven't heard all the Portuguese entries that qualified for Festival da Cançăo, but the ones that I heard are horrible. No wonder we haven't won a single year.

Though I think Portugal should've won in 2008 (and maybe in 1969, too)! But those are the only years that Portugal had the best song (at least for me).

:biggrinbo

As for Poland, I've been wanting Edyta Górniak to represent her country again for so long!

:respec:

Just if you want to watch:

Oh! The blonde backgroung singer in the Portuguese song from 2008 was qualified for Festival da Cançăo. Her song isn't that great, though.

Yesterday we had the second part of the German selection. I was very much impressed by Leon Tayler who presented his very own version of Grönemeyer's "Der Weg":

Listen and enjoy! :)

PML at Stefan Raab who said: "Leon, I am sure Grönemeyer is sitting in front of his tv, wishing he had your voice!"

Just catching up on this thread. I haven't watched all the entries, but I am  at Norway. Is there a single cliche that the song does not have?

but didn't you see how meaningfully he walked acrosse the stage

no, I closed my eyes in pain and agony:lol::lol:

actually, my boyfriend couldn't bare to hear the song again in the golden final (four finalists sing again, then the winner is decided), so we had to switch to another channel.... I didn't mind:D

now, I'm not the only one saying his diction is bad, he's being told off in all media, and he has promised to work on his english before the international final:p

The entries for the Irish National have been announced.

Article (http://www.rte.ie/arts/2010/0210/eurosong.html)

Baby, Nothing's Wrong - Performed by Michael Graham
Music & Lyrics by Michael Graham, Scott Newman & Yann O'Brien

Does Heaven Need Much More? - Performed by Leanne Moore
Written by Tommy Moran & John Waters

Fashion Queen - Performed by Monika Ivkic
Written by Marc Paelinck & Mathias Strasser

It's For You - Performed by Niamh Kavanagh
Music: Niall Mooney, Marten Eriksson & Jonas Gladnikoff
Lyrics: Lina Eriksson

River of Silence - Performed by Lee Bradshaw
Music: R. Siegel Lyrics: J. O'Flynn / José Santana

Michael "Mikey" Graham is a member of Boyzone.

Leanne Moore won You're A Star (Irish version of Pop Idol) in 2008. Unfortunately for her, her song was written by the team who wrote "They Can't Stop The Spring" in 2007. :scream:

Monika Ivkic was born in Bosnia and grew up in Austria. 4th place finisher in "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (I'll try to refrain from any sexual innuendo ;) ). The writers of her song wrote Chiara from Malta's entry last year so this entry has winner written all over it. :shuffle:

Niamh Kavanagh won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993.

Lee Bradshaw sung in last year's Irish final. I use the word "sung" loosely. Ralph Siegel & Bernd Meinunger wrote "A Little Peace", the winner of the ESC in 1982.

These are semi-decent entries actually. Good luck Ireland!

OMG! :duh: The Dutch entry is awful beyond words, complete lysacek-ic! :yikes: A horrible, crude 70s mix of "Waterloo", George Baker Selection and Pussycat ... holy crap!!! They can't be serious with that! :scream:

Melodifestivalen started! :cheer:

Heat 1 has taken place already.

Ola "Unstoppable" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U2IaEfaaiU) and Salem Al Fakir "Keen On Walking" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0EM2E6ccbA) through to the final.

Jessica Anderson "I Did It For Love" and Pain of Salvation "Road of Salt" through to Andra Chansen.

Dissapointing so far. Hopefully Alcazar and Johnson will bring it.

Heat 2 has taken place on Saturday.

Andreas Johnson "We Can Work It Out" and Eric Saade "Manboy" are through to the final

Pauline "Sucker For Love" and Kalle Moraeus & Orsa Spelmän "Underbart" are through to Andra Chansen.

I am really pissed off about the results.

Pauline’s performance was excellent, her vocals were amazing and the song is pure class. She should have won by far.

Johnson’s song was bland and boring.

Saade’s Eurotrash piece sounds as if it has been composed in 15 minutes using Magixx Music Maker. I can’t remember when I heard lyrics that retarded either.

---

Polish final has just finished.

Marcin Mrozinski "Legenda" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QgKKXZy2Hc) has clearly won with over 33% of votes.

Anna Cyzon "Love Me" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQvylhnyvhY) placed second with around 16% of votes. I have to say I think she deserved to win, she really commanded the stage and her vocals were excellent (although Mrozinski's song is better).

Iwona Wegrowska "Uwieziona" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAbx1FNluSk) placed third with around 15% of votes.

I think the public definitely got the top 3 right (even if I'd swap 1 and 2 around).

I'm really fcking annoyed by this dude. He has zero musical talent, zero charisma, his eybrows are more maintained than Miss World...how the hell does he get these jobs. I know dozens of guys who have bags more talent/charisma and looks....

Lee also has that gig on "The restaurant" on RTE. He's banging someone.
