He could lose 8 pounds in a few minutes just by cutting off the pompadour lol What is it with his hair these days? At one of the GPs it was so plastered down it looked like a bad hair piece.

I'm glad to hear how he is approaching things though and wish him luck.

Fwiw..I think the confusion regarding the 8 lbs in one day is because there are two articles linked in this thread. Don't know if this was a thread merge but obviously some of us for whatever reason (Carolla and I ) clicked on the other article. Hence the confusion.

Either way the only way he could have lost 8 lbs in one day is if he forgot his ego on the bus. Vomiting and similar is not going to take that much in one day.

Vomiting and similar is not going to take that much in one day.Don't under estimate the weight of fluid. A liter of water weighs over two pounds. If he had severe vomiting and diarrhea and wasn't able to rehydrate, it seems entirely possible that he could have lost that much weight in a day. I'm sure he wouldn't have been hospitalized if his reaction had not been severe.

I once lost 8 pounds overnight from a severe "stomach flu" (from eating bad food). It takes a while to rehydrate after that, and such a whack to the system has to be hard on the whole body for an athlete in training.

Anyway, great article in the Southwest Airlines mag. Fingers crossed for him!

Perhaps you should read the article this thread is about.

I went with the direct quote which I tend to trust more then "journalistic" let's make this an exciting story tendencies.

Especially since it's icenetwork, known for crappy journalism... LOL

I've always heard about 8 pounds, but I never heard him mention that it was in 1 day before. Something tells me that's as true as the headline, that calls Weir "unflappable". Of all people...

If I recall correctly, what Johnny actually said last January was that while sick with the flu, he had lost eight pounds and had spent a day in the hospital.

Some media source wrote that he said he had lost eight pounds during the one day he was in the hospital (not exactly the same thing), and once it gets reported by one news source, others just pick it up from there and report it as fact.

^ Is he still "not" planning to attempt a quad until Olys? Or is quad at USN's a possibility?
