Ah, cool--was worried that he had returned it to real fur (that would be his prerogative, of course, but stress-wise it wouldn't be the smartest choice). I like the first costume of the season better, anyway. :)

Seattle Times' summary of Weir's press conference earlier today: Weir's World (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/talkofthegames/2011066080_weirs_world.html)

"But I want to be remembered as somebody who pushed the boundaries of my sport. I want people to remember that I was a great talent on the ice and that I did everything a little bit different than everybody else. But at the same time, I want people to remember that I was able to speak my mind. I was able to voice my opinions about things and had no problems with that. In my own way, I've brought a lot of people into figure skating. Maybe it's not the way that my federation or most mainstream people would want it to be, but that's how I've done it. And I hope that more young athletes, not just figure skaters, but especially figure skaters, will be able to be themselves, or say what they want and never be afraid of anything, or anyone. I hope that's my mark."

Okay, this one says she literally had a choice between sharing an apartment with either Evan or Johnny.

Tanith Belbin shows off why roommate Johnny Weir is a 'bit of a diva' (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gameon/post/2010/02/tanith-belbin-shows-off-why-roommate-johnny-weir-is-a-bit-of-a-diva/1?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_content=Quotes)

The motivational quotes on the walls would bug me. I prefer Demotivators. :D What can I say, I like my snark.

He's planning to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York soon, the first step, he hopes, to becoming a fashion designer.

Shoot, I was hoping he'd pursue linguistics.

Well, I had really wondered if it was true or not......but sounds like it just might work out to both of their advantages.

I haven't read all the various pages, but after seeing Be Good Johnny Weir, pt. 4 [where Paris departs with a wave & a whine of missing all the good food & being taken care of in such a comfortable style], I'm wondering what gives? Is Paris a leech? Does he even have a job? If so, is it in New York [thus the move]? Does anyone have the scoop & willing to share? Actually it really ticked me off the way Paris treated Honny, espcially just before he had to leave for Korea for a show. Thank goodness for his Mom & Dad, who have previously been camera shy; they really supported him & came through for him.

I really like the way Johnny skates, designs his own costumes, knowns his own strenghts & weaknesses & takes appropriate measures to fix them to the best of his ability. He is so very talented & I wish him all the best in these Olympics & hopefully for The World's Team plus in his future. I feel that it is really rude that so many people pick on him.....actually bully him [as often read about now days in school or in the office] just because he thinks outside the box & says what he thinks.

So I say Go Johnny, Go Johnny!!!!:respec: :cheer2:

Yes, apparently Paris got a job and moved to be closer to it. Can't say I blame him - I commuted from NJ into NYC for 2 1/2 years and it was hell for me. Don't know how the long-term commuters do it!

I loved his skating in the men's short and I think some extraordinary artists like himself will always be misunderstood or pushed back. He should have placed higher.

Thanks for the article Sally 1214. I love this quote:

“I am always made to sound very anti-American and hateful of my own country in interviews because of the way I love Russia,” Weir said. “But I also love America. It is my home and the only home I’ll ever have. I don’t like being called a bad American simply because I love other cultures, because to me being a good American is accepting and loving the world we live in, not only your little patch of land.

“When I started traveling to Russia to compete and perform is when I can say I truly lost my heart to it. I admire the fact that a figure skater or a ballet dancer can be the true definition of a man. I admire that speaking what’s in one’s heart and soul is artful and brave.”

Not surprised to read Johnny has withdrawn from Worlds. Tv appearance after tv appearance hardly left adequate time to prepare.

Thanks for posting that. At least Toller was skating to interesting music. Sigh.
