The U.S. skater has his own reality show and fashion label

Mr. Weir, a contender to win a medal at his second Games, has shaken up the business of men's skating by blending it with high fashion and over-the-top personality. While other American male skaters have most commonly made post-Olympics names for themselves as coaches, TV commentators or professional stars in traveling skating tours, Mr. Weir has taken the unusual step of foraying into fashion during his competitive career.

I'll never stop laughing if Johnny finally decides to put the quad in when Evan has given it up. (That'd be weird, wouldn't it)

Beyond weird to entirely unlikely. Johnny's quad in competition is...well, he doesn't have a quad in competition (and what he leaves on the practice ice doesn't get scored). I hope that with Evan taking a safe but I think strategically mistaken approach, Johnny will relax just that little bit more that will enable him to turn in a solid performance - he needs to go out (from competition and I'm presuming this is the end) with something of quality even if it's not a medal.

I throw a pashmina or shawl over everything so nobody who may “search” my bag will ever think to steal something.[/URL]

If someone really wants to steal something, a shawl's not much of a deterrent, I'm afraid.

Has Johnny ever landed a clean one in competition?

I'd much rather Johnny focused on doing two two-jump combinations and one three-jump combination.

No.

I think Johnny did a fully-rotated quad at Nationals in 07 or 08? It was 2-footed but ratified I believe.
Johnny should go for it at the Olys. He has nothing to lose!

I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered Johnny landing the quad a few times in competition. I was also wondering if he was going to go for it here.

I wonder what % he lands it in practice.

Wouldn't it be something if he actually went for it just for the laughs and landed it? It would be so Weir lol

Well, he does not have much to lose. It's not like anyone predicts him to medal here. So I say go for it.

Same here. I'd like to see more risks as it is, though I understand that they don't take them as there's almost no pay off. Here he would actually profit in a major way so I'd do it. Even if he falls - he tried and that is brill.

On the uniform’s tight, white pants: “Wait until you see the white tights … If you think the Olympians have good (…) already, they are on full display in white pants. We had a meeting the first day I was here and I was sitting next to the Bobsleigh girls – they’re really strong women. And they were sitting there with their plates of food and stuff and we were all discussing underwear. I had some white and grey and stripey underwear on that day when I tried all the clothes and you could see them in the white tights and we were like, ‘Well, I’ll just free ball it’.”

No and I don't think he'll do one in Vancouver. But since the Johnny vs. Evan thing has been hyped and rehyped and Johnny is supposed to be everything Evan isn't, the thought of Johhny doing the quad while Evan isn't is just too hilarious to resist

Except that it wouldn't be very Weir at all. He had a tendency to be cautious and back off. I'll be happy if he doesn't double any of the planned triples in his combinations. It drives me batty that he does that so frequently.
