Eight pounds in one day?! That is insane. Man, I love Johnny's candor. There's always this sense of sarcastic wit to his outlook.
I just hope his physical condition can keep up with his positive frame-of-mind; wherein
lies Johnny's weakness- stamina.
Where in the article did you read that?

Go Johnny Go. Holding my breath.
"I'm stronger, more powerful, and healthier this season," he said. "There have been times in my career when I haven't felt my own essence. I didn't feel my own strength. Now I do."
:cheer2: Go Johnny!

Those moments of uncertainty were brief but costly. Coming off a world bronze medal in 2008, Weir opened the 2008-09 season with a silver medal at Skate America, losing gold by a hair to then-unheralded Takahiko Kozuka of Japan. He went on to take silver at Japan's NHK Trophy despite competing with a heavy cold. A few weeks later, he won bronze at the Grand Prix Final in Goyang, South Korea.
That's when his luck ran out. Over Christmas, Weir traveled to South Korea a second time, to perform in friend Yu-Na Kim's "Angels on Ice" show benefiting children's charities. While there, he caught a bug, losing eight pounds in a single day and spending Christmas Day in a hospital.

I didn't know it was humanly possible to lose 8 lbs in one day.

He doesn't say it's in one day. He says he was 8 lbs underweight..... I would bet that some of that was virus and some of that was....... the Starbucks diet?

Johnny wound up in the hospital and was given an IV most likely for dehydration. From what I remember reading last year, Johnny couldn't even hold down water before he was taken to the hospital.

Eight pounds is probably an exaggeration. . .
And: Does the US have three spots for men at the Olympics?

Well, if you have the shiz and vomit, it's entirely possible. :yikes:

No, it was a viral infection. Not from the diet.

Actually, probably not. I saw him right afterwards, and he looked absolutely skeletal.

I think he always looks pretty "skeletal" It's one of the things that worries me about him.

From the magazine
"JW: I was very sick with a stomach virus, but I tried, anyway. I was eight pounds underweight, and I went out and missed a few jumps. It was absolutely the lowest point of my career. I was feeling so low that I quit skating for two months, and I wasn’t sure if I’d come back."
I don't get the"single day" reference. If he was sick for several days that's easily believable.
