Also, my hair is so heavy I can't do much with it. Another of my coworkers has really thin hair too but it's very manageable. Yesterday she had it up in a tiny little clip which wouldn't hold 1/4 of my hair.

I wish I had half your hair. I sort of have to keep mine very short, or it looks even thinner.

As for the greasy part, you're still young. As you get older that will change. My scalp used to be very oily (I'm Italian), as I got older, it got less and less oily. Now it's so dry I can't wash it more than 3 times a week. Which is fine, but since it;s thin and short it flattens out and looks !

I have FSU to thank for helping me reduce the cost of personal care. The introduction to the EverPure line as well as the Clairol's Touch Ups has really cut down the cost of hair care. :respec:

I am not even going to tell you how much a cut and highlights (just on the crown) costs in a decent salon around here. :scream:

Also, someone else here posted about cutting tubes of product open after nothing can be squeezed out and voila! I end up with another month worse of product!

I just made a Sephora order--I haven't been buy as much makeup lately, since I've been busy at work. (Horrible, I know.)

I got UDPP in Sin--I have a love/hate relationship with UDPP, but I tried the Sin version and liked it a lot (it's a champagne color, and the consistency is slightly thinner.) I also got a Clinique butter shine lipstick and an Urban Decay eyeshadow.

I think my favorite higher-end brands are Clinique and Urban Decay. Talk about the sacred and the profane, huh? ;)

Have to vouch for GOSH eyebrow pencil. Very good and very affordable compared to my YSL of 28 euros :scream:

I think the grass is always greener on the other side. One of the grad students has really neat wavy hair that's always looks tousled, but she hates it since it's "unmanageable."

My husband, kids and I were having dinner somewhere about a week ago and we were complaining about our unmanageable hair in the humidity. The first thing out of the server's mouth was "OMG, you all have such gorgeous curls! I would kill to have your hair!"

My daughter would gladly hand her corkscrews over to anyone who asked if she could (and her hair draws a LOT of comment). We're just now figuring out how to take care of her curls so they look good and it's a real PITA for someone who hates to fuss. She also hates product in her hair. She often looks like she has a mop on her head. But people still go "Ooooooooh."

Then again, it IS Los Angeles. The average expenditure is $80 and I think that's more reasonable, even if it's way more than what I pay. Keep in mind that gym costs apparently factor into this, which can add up.

Indeed, but even there.....but the average is something like $80 for my bracket here, too, and that sounds more like it.

I am not even going to tell you how much a cut and highlights (just on the crown) costs in a decent salon around here. :scream:

Oh, I know how much it costs. My stylist used to work in a salon in SanFran and she told me when she first came here and saw the prices, she nearly had a heart attack and thought she would be eating Kraft Dinners for the rest of her life. Then she found out what housing cost  The woman I know who owns the day spa used to work for Sassoon in London  She said it took her about five years to get over feeling like she was way undercharging.

I haven't cut my hair at all in over 2 years. I had it donated at the last cut, and every time it started to look weird and I thought about getting it trimmed, it would grow out just a little more by the next week and look less weird. And now here we are.

I was really quite surprised how well my hair grew out, this time last year it was 1" to 1"1/2, a man's cut that I spiked up. I never did go through the awful grow out stage and even now with it sitting on my shoulders I can control the flipper doodle with a round brush and blow dryer. My hair is fine but thick and with a slight wave in humidity. I will have to use 2 bottles of color pretty soon but even $6 is affordable. I use to spend $40 monthly in addition to color and hair products so I have saved a ton of money by letting it grow, trimming my own bangs and only going for a trim every 6 months. This time next year my hair should be to the middle of my back, IF I decide to let it get that long.

We went to Victoria yesterday and when we were shopping at Mayfair I saw that they're opening a Sephora in August!

I need an eye cream which I can put on before I go to sleep. I have such puffy eyes sometimes in the morning (very often lately, I'm not getting any younger!) and it's not enough to put on a cooling lotion after getting up :drama:

I've decided that to reward myself for months of patience during unemployment... Now that I have a kick ass new job, I'm going to spend some of my severance pay from the last job on a "money is no object" Sephora shopping spree. Wheee!!! Can't wait!

I guess that's the reason why I bought a Chanel cream for my puffy eyes :o Those traditional sales ladies are good at their job :D

There is a house (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100622/ap_on_bi_ge/us_odd_massive_mansion_unfinished_3) on the market where she could store it all.
