Actually, Jack didn't know anything about Flocke until that moment because the last time he saw Locke was when he was dead in his coffin and Jack was putting his dad's shoes on the body before they caught the Ajira flight. I thought the look Jack had on his face was more of a WTH look about seeing Locke 'alive' on the island than anything else which made perfect sense to me.

I think this was the first time Jack came face to face with Locke but I'm pretty certain that he knows someone is walking around the island in Locke's body. It has surely been talked about a lot and in front of him. There were probably scenes dealing with this but I can't think of any right off the top of my head. Hurley even said they should go with Locke and Jack never once said "wait, what, but Locke is dead." So he has known...

Don't forget Jack was with Illana, Richard, Ben, Sun and the pilot - all who knew that someone/thing was on the island looking like Locke (the real Locke was buried so Smokey has just created a body looking like Locke) but was in reality something else - I'm pretty sure it was raised - especially by Illana as well as Richard after his storyline the 2 weeks ago.

The look exchanged btwn Jack and Flocke was more of a "what now" from Jack and a "this is the man I need to convince most" from Flocke as Jack was the one who was insistant in getting the O5 (minus Arron) back on the island!!

re the pouch - I've seen suggestions of Paolo's diamonds and the black and white stones found on Adam and Eve (which Jack took at the time), but most seem pretty sure it's Jacob's ashes. Showing the Russian book at the same time was an indication they were Ilana's things, and she had the pouch of ashes. I believe Hurley knows something about the significance of the ashes from his experiences going to the cabin, no?

re the look between Jack and Flocke - even though Jack knows that Smokey is inhabiting a body that looks like Locke (remember the actual body was buried), it's got to be a shock to see it actually alive, especially for a man of science/doctor who last saw it very dead. Also, looking into the eyes of Smokey for the first time has to be a bit jarring.

And of course it's showdown time.
