Komova just has to stay healthy for London. I sure hope the gymnastics gods are kind because she really is awesome.

Yes, yes! Oye, Komova! OMG, is it so terrible if I admit right now that I will not be rooting for WOGA 3-peat!

No ;)
Unless you are an NBC commentator and then it is blasphemy! :lynch:

Wow, Komova is unbeatable!

Her vault score was ridiculous to me. Didn't she score a 15.700 on Day 1? Her vault today was probably .4 better but she only scored a 15.650 She had better rotation, landed smack in the middle and only took a small step forward. On day 1 she had less rotation and took a huge step to the side and OFF of the mat. How that could be a better vault is beyond me.

Right there with ya!

Her toe point and leg extension is gorgeous. Reminds me of Mostepanova, one of my top gymnasts of all time. Please, please don't let the puberty monster get her.

Who has Komova been coached by for the past several years?

All of Komova's routines looked better than on night 1 imo.

Finals scoring was obviously tighter, so that's why the scores are lower.

Yes, that was my reaction too (although I didn't get to see enough of Mostepanova).

Komova is the best, most complete gymnast I have seen in a long time.

Not sure if this was mentioned or not but her mother is Vera Kolesnikova, member of the 1985 gold medal winning world championship team for the USSR and winner of the first Goodwill Games in 1986.

Yes, yes :cheer2: She's got power, grace, style, difficulty - just everything. :swoon:

pollyana, her website lists her coaches as Genadiy Yelfimov and Olga Bulgakova.

Here's a better quality (HD) version of Komova's FX. As long as you can cope with the commentary

Here's a tribute to Komova's mother, from 1986 with a skill set that would still be competitive today....

Thanks for sharing!
The apple certainly doesn't fall far from the tree.

I'm going to enjoy following Komova's progress, along with many of you!

Oh my gosh, thanks for posting this! I remember Kolesnikova very well, I still have the 1986 Goodwill Games on videotape. Shushunova and Omelianchik made early mistakes, but Vera was steady as a rock and those 2 World Champs were never able to catch up to her in the AA. What great genes Komova has!

Thanks! I don't know them, but hats off to their coaching skills. :cheer:

Komova is fantastic! Her vault was a little scary looking for some reason, but her bars and her beam (especially her first layout series ) are stunning. Love her!
