I hate that double tucks are valued the same as double pikes. I guess that explains why I am seeing so many of them. I hate that, a double tuck is considered sub par in the NCAA!

Yes, this was news to me.

They look so unimpressive to me too. I'd rather seem them performed like Kim Zemeskal. I realize today's are considered technically more correct, but I just don't like them!

Oh, yuck, I hated Zmeskal's double tucks. It always looked to me that her legs were just being pulled along for the ride with her upper body doing all the work. It just didn't look like she pulled her knees in to tuck, it was the same on her beam dismount. I've never seen anyone else have the same look in their double tucks. Not sure if it was different technique or just her body shape.

I actually heard an argument why Double tucks should be the same value as a double pike because many gymnasts find pikes to be easier. Apparently, it's a significant portion for the FIG to change the value. Maybe it's a way for them to get more diversity in the FX. Remember Athens when it seemed like everybody ended with a Double Pike? I think it's what made me hate double pikes so much.

However, it might also be just another stupid FIG move. I'm still trying to figure this sport out.

Then they should devalue the double pike. I am assuming they raised the value of the double tuck to meet the double pike, if that is so then that seems absurd but perhaps I could understand if they lowered the double pike to meet the value of a double tuck.

How would that be any different? Do you think a Double Tuck/Pike should be worth lower than a 2 1/2 twist or a forward double twist?

Are you just sick of seeing EVERYONE end their routines with double pikes?

We need some kind of bonus for originality.

Well because if it is true that double pikes are often easier than double tucks I don't mind the double pike being devalued. That is my main point, I suppose. As for the other questions, well I don't mind them being worth less than a 2 1/2 twist but the front double twist is probably going a bit far. However, nothing is perfect and some skills will always be undervalued or overvalued depending on who you talk to. My biggest problem is the sheer amount of double tucks we have been seeing this year. It is like 1984 all over again!

Better 1984 than 2004, I say! Well, except for Mary Lou winning the OGM because of the Soviet boycott...but other than that, ;).

Yes, totally. There are hardly any Onodis out there anymore. :(

Personally, I'd like that ugly side somi devalued to nothing. I've never seen that look attractive, not once.

Tan: Fugly DTY, tbh. Step to the side. 14.400
Komova: attempting the Amanar. landed with a small step forward. legs a bit off at the end but NICE! 15.650
Gomez Porras: something quite easier. landed well.
