Anastasia Grishina's FX from Junior Europeans EF (14.275):

Grishina UB (15.375):

I love how clean and precise her gymanstics are.

Komova on VT (Amanar):

DTY:

Komova UB (15.2):

Komova FX (14.250)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMF-Wph2qWA&feature=related

Komova is the whole package, IMO. Big tricks combined with artistry and form.
They pretty much swept Junior Europeans. Komova won the AA, and Grishina was second; Grishina won bars and floor, while Komova won vault and beam and was second on bars.

ETA: I was confused about the age rule for a minute, but nevermind now;)

Wow, could Grishina and Komova's UB routines be any more identical (except for the Komova transition, of course)? I'm getting so sick of the stalder lift from low to high bar. Can't they make repeating the same bar change element against the rules? Encourage some variety perhaps?

I like Komova on FX much better than Grishina. Komova is a more fluid, natural dancer and damn can she stick those landings!

!

Bars seriously needs a code overhaul. I esp. hate how the Chinese can codewhore for an astronomical D Score by doing 50 bazillion pirouette variations.

Thanks chips and oleada for the links and everything! I especially like the look of Komova, she's got really nice form and style. It's good to see the Russians coming back with some talent after some pretty dire years IMO (Kinda like their lady skaters as well) I also checked out the Japan Cup, did anyone see a crazy release by Nabieva (I think) on UB? That was exciting, even though it kinda messed up her routine. Also like the look of Afanasyeva and Mustafina. Has Jiang Yuyuan gone?

Jiang Yuyuan is still around, but having a hard time getting back to her 2008 form.

Yang Yilin is also having a hard time battling injury and growth spurts.

If you do the same bar change twice in one routine, you would get a 0.3 deduction for "bar change without performing an element".

Oh my @ JYY :( She really looked rough there; I wonder if we've seen the last/best of her? Would be a real shame, but I guess this is gymnastics.

Nice to see Zhang Nan! Nan coaching (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEi47Yh0gDg&feature=related) (and thank god she's grown her hair)

:wall: :wall: :wall: I guess my email to NBC about how Terry Gannon made SUCH a better gymnastics commentator (during the Pac Rim Championships) than Al wasn't enough.

I've heard complaints about Tim and Elfi over the years, but I really believe that Al is the real problem that drags both of them down.

I agree. Fans of all of the sports that Al commentates on seem to really dislike him. It's always the annoying ones (coughjoemorgancough) that seem to be completely secure in their positions though, ugh.

Terry was great (I'd rather have him back for skating though).

British Apparatus finals were pretty disappointing (as often, the girls always seem to pull together for the big meets though). However, both Danusia Francis and Niamh Rippin had gorgeous floors with nailed landings, that you can check out here http://www.british-gymnastics.org/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1439&Itemid=419

Danusia's beam was also good considering she's coming back from injury. Her form is nicer this year.

Is anyone here attending Nationals in Hartford?

I've never been to a gymnastics event, but with Nationals so close to me, I'm seriously thinking of going. I'm sure like skating, it's very different to see it live.

That video of JYY on beam was really sad. She couldn't even complete her backhandspring-backpike combination, she actually put her hands down on the beam because of her short rotation. Everything was so labored, even her leaps. It really stood out how much she was lacking in choreography, it was just trick-bobble-trick-fall-trick-bobble-dismount
