Any word on Samantha Shapiro and how her recovery is going?

For that matter I dont share chipso's optimism on Sacramone finding a place for herself on the team so easily again.

I don't think it's going to be easy for her (Sacramone) to get on the team. Not at all. I do think, however, that she has a better shot than Williams at this point in time. Time will tell, though.

Terin Humphrey is now a police officer! (http://www.fox2now.com/news/sns-ap-mo--olympiccop,0,4228743.story) I didn't see that one coming.

She's been off with that ankle injury for so long (I don't think she's even competed since the quad began), but hopefully that means they've been working on bars like mad. She was actually capable of scoring in the mid-15s on bars last quad, so if she could get a UB routine that would break 15 at Nationals she would be in very good stead. Caquatto has yet to show stellar form on bars and according to Aunt Joyce doesn't have a great work ethic and is "mentally checked out of elite." Whitcomb should have strong potential for the team, but if it happens to come down to Whitcomb and Shaprio I would pick Shapiro because her beam could be useful.

I was referring to Sacramone vs. Williams. ;) But yes, I LOVE Shapiro and hope she can get back to form!

USA Gymnastics: Justin Spring got married on May 29. (http://www.usa-gymnastics.org/pages/post.html?PostID=5610&prog=m)

Nice wedding photos. Congrats to the couple. I hope Spring is enjoying college coaching.

:cheer: Justin Spring - I went to school with him, back in the day...

Not a fan of Alicia's outfit at all, though :yikes:

That's kind of interesting. What comes to mind is the usual smaller body structure of a gymnast. I wonder how big she is in comparason to her colleagues, and especially compared to the people she'll need to police. Of course I realize they're trained to handle people of any size. I just find it interesting cause I'm assuming she'll be even smaller than most women on the force.

ETA: I found a more detailed article, with photos. http://www.kansascity.com/2010/06/15/2020542_former-olympic-gymnast-is-a-raymore.html?storylink=omni_popular

The article also says that she will "help choose the girls team for 2012," so I assume that means she will be the athlete representative!

Does she wear sparkly eye-shadow when she's on patrol?

My sister is a cop and is also 5'0"- out of all the careers we would have picked for her back in the day, a police officer wasn't one of them! She was always the smallest kid in her class. But she's tough and fitter than a lot of her male colleagues- I wouldn't mess with her.
Anyway, that's great that Terin has found a career she's passionate about- best of luck to her! :)

Any word on Samantha Shapiro and how her recovery is going?
