Love Grishina, her gymnastics are so beautifully clean.

Komova does the most beautiful Shaposh 1/2 on bars I have ever seen. Not sure if it has another name but that is the only way I know to describe it. She had such hang time, a delay on the twist and then so much swing out of it! I think she could work on swinging it right up into a giant. That would be  My only problem with her bars were some flexed feet and less than pointed toes when they weren't flexed. Grishina has great bars, I love that her legs are glued together during the entire routine except for her transitions from low to high. I guess this is true for Komova but her last cast to handstand was straddled. I much prefer to see legs together on casts at this level of gymnastics.

Komova does the most beautiful Shaposh 1/2 on bars I have ever seenThat's a Piked Stalder Shaposhnikova half....Komova's signature move. Hopefully it will get named after her, at the Youth Olympics. I seriously hope that some gymnast doesnt' learn it before Komova can get credit for that move, in the code of points. It will though always be the Komova to me..

Russia won Europeans, Britain was second, Romania third. Seriously, Aliya Mustafina won this thing for Russia. While several of her teammates looked like they were ready to fall it a part. She just delivered solid performance after solid performance. Sure her last two routines were shaky, but still solid. She did the All Around here.

GB certainly put on a great show! Congratulation to Russia on a job well done, :)

That is a great result for the British women, I know they felt pressure to not get overshadowed by the men.

I watched it with Lidiya Ivanova's commentary, awww, I love her!
Aliya was simply amazing! I'm sure she and Komova are the future of gymnastics, congrats for them! And good luck to Aliya tomorrow ;)

It was hard to tell from the video, but was it a piked stalder or a toe-on? Either way it was cool.

I was looking for more videos of that move, and found a girl who does a 1/1 shaposh transition from low to high  at :18:

It's a shame for Mustafina that there were no AA finals. Girl was rock. I'm impressed with her mental strength. A team with her, Grishina and Komova will be very dangerous in the future.

:kickass: GB girls! They totally surprised me, I admit! You can see how elated they are in the pics. And less than a point behind Russia as well!

Beth Tweddle already has the MBE, what comes next? She's a rockstar.

That Shaposh 1/1 was a thing of beauty. Any idea who that was, has it been competed? She seemed to do it easily.

I'm not sure what routine you are talking about. I'm so thrilled for Russia though and the possibility of them being able to build a team around Aliya, Grishina and Komova for the Olympics.

The clip is from a practice gym, possibly not even an elite. No idea who.

Article on the US Women's team being "awarded" the Olympic team bronze 10 years after the Sydney Olympics:

http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/vancouver/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/Ten-years-later-bronze-special-for-U-S-gymna?urn=oly,237736

A quote from Dominique Dawes:

"When I look at it, there are two things that bother me. One, my teammates. This is their first medal and they didn't get to stand on the podium and have those medals put around our necks and have America watching on TV and be so proud of them, and number two, it's the Chinese gymnasts. The one thing that everyone's ignoring in this situation is that these gymnasts don't have a voice. They don't have a say. They're told that they're going to compete, and they're supposed to say they're a certain age, and it's sad. They are stripping these athletes, and they don't have a voice."

Beckerman was an alternate and I don't believe she actually got to compete.

That's correct.
