Beckerman was an alternate and I don't believe she actually got to compete.

Schwikert was such a rockstar for the U.S. team in Sydney. I'm glad she has an Olympic medal to her credit now. :)
Tasha was the first person I thought of when I heard this. She was too cute at those Games! :)

Romania is only about 1.5 points behind the Russians, so it is quite possible to have quite a fight for the gold. Shades of gymnastics glorious past.

Russia though counted an 11.4 on bars, due to kurbatova's epic disaster. Talk is she will not be doing bars in team finals. The look on Alexandrov's face and his body language when he was watching that routine was priceless. I think Ksensia A is going to be looked at a new after this. Sure she can mess up too, but she could still fall on bars and get a 13.

I hope for Russia's sake that they can perform well and win this and get that monkey of choking of their back.

What exactly happened to Kurbatova on bars? I have done a youtube search but don't see any videos yet.

Mishmash151 has lots of videos posted already, and here is Kurbatova's bar routine. The guy in the background jumping up and down in head coach Alexandrov. LOL

Thanks but I feel dumb, I didn't see anyone jumping up and down in the background? Am I blind? lol

Ok so he isn't exactly jumping up and down but he is very animated, and he is the guy standing next to the photographer to the left. :)

Kurbatova does the same kind of Pak that Liukin does, which no wonder she had a big problem. She shoots out instead of up, so the flip happens too late, her feet are over her head instead of above and she has to overarch her back to even grab the bar. It almost looked like she meant to just do a shoot over instead! Probably a deduction for feet on the bars, then the bad swing, form deductions galore and the sit-down on the landing :duh: poor kid!

Apparently Beth might not compete in team finals at Euros, in order to preserve herself for the individual finals. To me this makes no sense at all - so much for team spirit! I'm kind of disappointed in her. She's had all the individual medals in the past, and this is a totally unique chance to win one with the team. Not an opportunity that is likely to come round again any time soon for GB....

I know she's done this before, but this is the first time GB have been in medal contention. I hope it's just a rumour...

Good point. It's been proven and freely admitted that Daniela Silivas was underage in 1983 when she won beam gold at Worlds, yet no one's taking away her medal.

You mean 1985. Even if it is well known, does someone needs to complain to FIG to start an investigation? I can't recall who was 4th, but if her teammates or Russia would move up, then I don't see them complaining. Certainly not her teammate, but Russia would open up a big can of worms by making a stink about underage issues.

I wonder what the FIG figures to be the statue of limitations on these sorts of things. I guess the time frame is "when there's enough public humiliation involved and pressures from the outside, so you have to do something about it" sort of time frame.

European junior girls AA is finished and Victoria Komova won followed by Anastasia Grishina, and Larissa Iordache of Romania was 3rd. :)

Wow, I didn't know Komova had an Amanar. Awesome! She and Grishina are both lovely and I hope they make a smooth transition into seniors in the next few years.
