I thought that the on site practice rink was a selling point for Gso. I agree with Debbie that the Ice House could be a practice site for early arrivers? Hopefully. IIRC, its about 10-15 minutes from the Coliseum.

I thought this quote was interesting:

I thought all practices not at the main arena were going to be in another space at the Coliseum complex. Does this mean that the practice location has changed, or does this mean that the rink will just be around for skaters who want to practice extra on their own (allowed at Nats for the past 5 years or so), or before the event starts (hence the word "early")?

One thing I learned, starting with Atlanta, do NOT assume any info on "practices" you receive early will be accurate. Who knows what they will really do?

It does seem like they are doing a good job promoting the event, but I agree with some who think it will be hard to beat Spokane's record.

I really hope it does....I'd love to see more figure skating come to NC.

I just heard from the official bureau. The practice rink is at the main venue. They said they did not understand how the rumor got started about Ice House.

I imagine the Ice House is just going to sell extra practice time to competitors.

The quote about Ice House came from the marketing director at Ice House and it was in regards to early unofficial practices. He mentions them being on the same ice with their own skaters, so they must be selling the extra spaces on their normal club sessions.

This is different from the unofficial and official practices usually offered by the LOC. Last year in Spokane, some of the official practices were not in the main venue and you did have to be credentialled to get into that rink (official, coach, skater, chaperone). All the practices at the main venue were open though.

Great now they post this, I wouldn't have bought a ticket for the Men's SP and well as the weekend package, as they have never included SPs in the weekend package before, regardless of what night the event took place. :wall:
