I see Alison Weir has a new book out about Anne Boleyn, The Lady in the Tower. Looks very interesting!

I love Alison Weir. Going to check this out.

I read [U]Open[U] by Andre Agassi this weekend. It was an interesting read, some parts were boring and blah especially when he went into way too much detail about some random tennis matches. Otherwise I enjoyed his frankness, though much to me just didn't add up. Plus I loved Stefanie Graf since I was like 13, so it was sweet reading their little love story.

I'm almost done with Agassi's book. I'm enjoying it a lot. From his side of it, it's clear that he and Brooke were mis-matched from the beginning. The story of his relationship with Steffi, though, is very sweet.

Must get back to the Girl Who Played With Fire.

Also, I think I need to go talk to the folks at my old store to know what else to read, this trying to figure it out on my own without inside knowledge of what's going on sucks.

So with three days off from school I read:

Terry Pratchett - Hat Full of Sky, which I enjoyed a great deal. It's the second book in the Wee Free Men trilogy.

Josh Lieb - I am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I want to be your Class President, which is hilarious, but the ending comes out of the blue. You can't redeem your character (not the main character, a different one) without a hint of redeeming qualities earlier in the book. Until the last two pages, though, genius.

James Swain - The Night Monster, a bit of an idiot plot. If the character didn't do idiotic things, the plot wouldn't advance forward. Still has interesting moments, but wastes a lot of them. The creepy abandoned mental ward is not played the way it could be, and the end seems to wrap up really quickly, like the author got bored and was all, "let's just tie up all these loose ends right now." I did like that he left one undone, though. It would've been too convenient.

I am stuck on page 23(ish) of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I just can't get into it. I want to skip it and read the third book but it's not available til May. :P

I liked it a lot, especially compared to most sports memoirs, but it's also clear that it's very heavily ghost written.

Sweden isn't much different in Dragon, immie; there's still LOTS of coffee drinking and eating of food (although occasionally it is cooked first).

Well, the incessant coffee drinking is true at least. ;)

I really enjoyed Kate Elliott's Traitors' Gate, have you read Crown of Stars series? I am on book 4 of 7 and they are massive well over 800+ pages. But well worth the time.

I've been recommended the Crown of Stars series before, the reason I picked up the Crossroads trilogy instead was that it was on sale, and it was shorter, which was good in case I wouldn't like them (I'm stubborn and have a hard time *not* finishing series, even if I hate the books). Since I liked the Crossroads books I'm considering picking up the Crown of Stars books during summer. :)

If you like The Girl Who because of the girl, I can see why. The Dragon book focuses primarily on Mikael in the first half; Lisbeth shows up from time to time, but most of the first half is about Mikael and the Vanger family. Mikael isn't as interesting as Lisbeth, IMO, and so it's kind of slow going until she joins forces with Mikael. And even when she does, it's more Mikael's story than hers.

I'm reading The Girl Who Played with Fire and so far, the focus is on Lisbeth and events are a bit more exciting, if a little  from time to time.

My BF just loaded me down with some books by Kim Harrison and Kelly Armstrong, not sure because I am not a big fan of vampires, wares and so on, but I will give on a shot after my marathon Kate Elliott series!

Do we have any Sue Grafton fans here? I just read her recent release, "U" is for Undertow, but am a bit confused on a few matters. I've always enjoyed her style of writing and have read all the letters so far (A through U).

It's too cold here to move so I'm reading more. :) I finished Tasha Alexander's "Tears of Pearl" and Jayne Ann Krentz's "Fired Up" over the weekend and am into "Veil of Lies" by Jeri Westerson right now. "Veil" is listed as "medieval noir" which is a fancy way of calling it a historical mystery. The main character, Crispin Guest has major class issues but so far it's interesting enough.

Which is more thasn I can say for Sandra Brown's "Riley in the Morning" that I have on audio in the car. It's terrible - no plot, stupid cardboard charaters and way too many badly written sex scenes. I keep fast-forwarding through the "oh, not again!" parts. All I want to know is why do-do Brin walked out on husband-hunk Riley in the first place. I'm assuming it was some stupid reason and just want to find out how truly idiotic it was.
