I believe the Winter Classic will be held there if we get the All-Star game because Pittsburgh was rumored to be one of the front runners for the ASG (to hold it in their new arena).

I'm sure we wouldn't attend the Winter Classic because I doubt if my husband the lifelong Cleveland Browns fan will be too interested in attending anything at the Steelers' stadium.

Well hell's bells - we got the 2011 All-Star Game, but it's the same weekend as the US Nat'l Championships in Greensboro! :wall: Oh well, looks like I will be missing some skating b/c there's no way I'm missing the ASG in our home arena!

God I can't wait for the playoffs (despite the fact that my team won't be in it, yet again).

The first round of the playoffs is probaby my favourite part of the sporting year.

Also, the NHL is being considerate enough to start them the day after Glee comes back, which is awesome for me.

Congrats to Henrik Sedin on what appears to be a first ever scoring title for a Vancouver Canuck!!! (of course barring an 8 point day for Sydney Crosby)

I have to say, I'm not exactly a Rangers fan, but I feel bad for Henrik Lundqvist today. He nearly single-handedly put them in the playoffs despite getting outshot 48-25 by the Flyers, only to end up losing in a shootout.

Congrats to Sedin! I don't think one single person would have predicted that going into this season.

Also, Crosby and Stamkos will share the Richard trophy - Stamkos scored an empty netter with thirteen seconds left to tie Crosby at 51. Not bad for a guy who couldn't even make the Olympic team.:P

Yes, it was a little nerve-racking for a while there!! ;)

Really happy that Crosby and Stamkos shared the Rocket Richard trophy, and Sedin won the Art Ross.

I think Miller deserves the Vezina and should get a lot of consideration for league MVP too. Buffalo would not be where they are without him. Sedin and Crosby would be my other top choices for league MVP. Sedin has had a break out year and made everyone he has played with better, and Crosby has shouldered much more of the load for Pens this year because Malkin has had a subpar season. Ovechkin had another terrific year, third in scoring and would most likely have won Rocket Richard if not for suspensions and injuries, but I think the Caps were 8-2 and scored on average even more goals when Ovechkin was out of the line up ... obviously a lot of talent on the Caps and he got lots of support from Backstrom, Semin, Green.... so I find it hard to say Ovechkin is the most valuable player to his team this year.

So excited the playoffs are just a few days away!

OK. My off-the-cuff prediction for the finals: Washington vs. Chicago.

If I end up being way off, this post will pop up again, and again, and again ... :slinkaway .

and is it bad for me to find it fitting that Matt "I didn't mean to hurt Savard" Cooke was totally clocked by a player named after a boxer? :shuffle:

And the next fight felt like it lasted longer than a craptastic men's long program  :watch:

I saw the Cooke KO last night. Unreal - Kane is eighteen, and had only ever had one other fight in the NHL.

He's totally getting a standing O next time he plays in Boston.

Awwwww, no awards for Ovi (at least not yet). I can still hope he and the Caps win the Stanley Cup I guess. :cheer:

It seems like a lot of referees/linesmen retired recently.

I read a little while ago that McCreary is actually sticking around another year, at the NHL's request, for that very reason I believe. They didn't want to have to bring in too many new referees at once.

Yeah Henrik! My boyfriend is choked because my brother's wedding reception is Saturday night so he has to miss a Canucks play off game. I told him there's a tv in the lounge he can sneak out once in a while and check the score
