Johan Franzen out at least four months with a torn ACL. (http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=294313)Ouch. I'm no expert on the subject, but isn't four months a little optimistic for a torn ACL?
Yet somehow, as a Leafs fan, I'm finding it difficult to find sympathy for the Wings...:P
In other news, apparently four million a year isn't enough to feed Scott Hartnell. (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4544387&name=lebrun_pierre) What an idiot.

Ashley, while I've never torn my ACL, I've had my share of knee problems and to answer your question...Yes, four months is quite optimistic to return to the ice from that kind of an injury. I'm also an Alpine Skiing fan and usually it takes a skier who's suffered an ACL tear six to eight months to make it back.
Who knows though. W/all the advances in Arthoscopic Surgery and Physio...You never know.
Theo finally coming out and admitting that his former Jr A Coach abused him is a bit eerie as my cousin and a friend of hers were talking about that very thing only a week and a half ago at my Dad's Birthday Supper/Party. We were talking about Theo's attempted comeback and from there is how we got talking about it.
It's been a long time in coming for him to publicly admit it. I hope it helps Theo in his ongoing battle w/his various demons.

I know the season's just started and all, but so far this Leafs team is looking even worse than last year.:yikes:
I'm already starting to miss our first-rounder.:wall:

Five-year-old nails Kurt Russell's Herb Brooks speech from 'Miracle'

He's going to be in Vancouver, thanks to Ellen DeGeneres  .

Awww...What a great thing for Ellen to do for this little guy!! That's one heck of a speech too. Got to watch Miracle last winter for the first time and really enjoyed it. I adored the decidcation to Herb Brooks at the end of it though.
Phraprasing here...
This movie is dedicated to the Memory of Herb Brooks.
He never saw it. He lived it.
Loved, loved, loved that!!
Just saw the scores from tonight's games. Yi yi yi did the Sens ever hand the Lighting their butts and then some. 7-1 win...Ouch!!

Dude, what is with all the big names going down so early in the season this year? The latest: Marc Savard (broken foot) (http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=295573) and Sergei Gonchar (broken wrist) (http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=295584).

Good question, isn't it?
Did anyone else see that hit on Booth Saturday night? That was vicious and then some. Poor kid never saw it coming. :(

Good God, now it's Malkin's turn to take a trip to the IR. (http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=296502)
This is crazy. I honestly can't remember a season where this many star players went down this early in the season. At least this one isn't as serious as some of the others.

As well as the flu hitting several players already :yikes:
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2009/10/28/sp-capitals-laing-flu.html
HNIC radio reminded listeners that the 1919 Stanley Cup finals were cancelled due to the 1918 flu pandemic. We're still far away from that scenario, but... :shuffle: http://www.faceoff.com/story.html?id=2b74e3b4-a904-46c2-b9c4-a4d452c5f8ab

I was skating at a public session today (figure skates; I've been afraid to return to hockey skates for a few months now :o ) and this man I had never seen before there put on his hockey skates, skated around really well, but I was  when he occasionally put one arm up way in the air while turning or doing back crossovers. Could that have been a balance exercise, or...wait a minute!...maybe he's a referee! :judge: Yep. He was practicing for his latest test in order to continue to referee USA Hockey games.

I know...The Players just seem to keep falling. It's really odd for so many injured players this early.
That's really cool deltask8ter. I hope he passes his test. :)
