As a Philly girl living in Chicago, it was good for me either way.

Now every major sports team in Chicago has won their title in the past 25 years . . . except the Cubs. Sigh.

Steve Lepore of Puck The Media reports that the Chicago Blackhawks' first Stanley Cup since 1961 may have produced the NHL's best ratings in 37 years.

The only way that affected me was when he mentioned the 4-year-old from 1992. It reminded me of the boy who couldn't stop crying when the Bruins lost this year :( . (one minute fifteen seconds in : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqiV_4dNcCw )

Now that the Hawks have won the Stanley Cup, I think it's time Toews and Sharp shaved away their playoff-inspired beards. They're both hotties when they're clean shaven! :grope:

This morning Toews was spotted having breakfast with some friends at Ann Sather's in Lakeview. He had cinnamon rolls which the Swedish restaurant is famous for. Sounds mighty good right now! He was reportedly very amiable with all of the fans asking for autographs and photos.

He probably needed that breakfast after the all-night party the team had. The Mix was following their moves this morning as they went from place to place. :)

WOO HOO to the Hawks! I never watched hockey until this series, and now I'm hooked. Planning a Hawks game when the season starts again.

And my fab boss has given us an extra hour added to our lunch time to take in the parade (which will pass our building) and rally. :)

One of the commentators mentioned something earlier today that never even crossed my mind.

For the first time since they started sending the Stanley Cup Winning Team and the Cup to the White House, the President will welcoming his own home town team!!

I remember last year the excitement w/the Pens because Obama's a hockey fan, plus they'd heard Mario's stories of meeting George Sr., so they and the NHL were thrilled to finally have a POTUS that knew Hockey. Can you imagine how much they're looking forward to this year's visit to The Rose Garden? :D

What, no mention of this week's B.S.y Chicago Tribune poster depicting "Chrissy Pronger" the figure skater? I'd been vaguely, quite mildly rooting for Chicago. [Mainly because Philly took out Montreal.] But then I read about the Trib thing and it made me kind of .

I don't even like Pronger, but it's insipid in the same way the whole "Cindy Crosby" nickname is. Actually, it's the same old two slams in one - insulting a man by calling him a woman and belittling figure skaters.

I want to tell idiots who think like that to google: Tatiana Totmianina, 2004 Skate America; Dan Zhang, 2006 Olympics; Tessa Virtue, 2008-2009 season; Joannie Rochette, 2010 Olympics. [First few examples that come to mind.]

Then they can get back to me about how female figure skaters are sooo weak that it's a huge insult to be compared to them.

[Yeah, yeah, you tell 'em, TBH! :lynch: ;)]

NBC Philadelphia sports anchor John Clark tried to ask #20 how he felt about the poster during a post-practice press conference, but Pronger wanted nothing of it.

But Adam Burish's comments about Pronger (and right after winning the Cup) were even dumber.

PHILADELPHIA -- Congratulations to the editors of the Chicago Tribune on an idea that will lead to hundreds of links, millions of page views and probably a few thousand much-needed newspaper buys. The only question is, was it worth the cost of dignity?

Up next, the NHL awards in Vegas, and the draft in L.A. :summer: :hat1: :encore: :bribe:

Congrats to Chicago on their win. :cheer2: Good to see it go to an Original 6 team. If it couldn't be Detroit, I'm glad it was Chicago. :)

Wonder who Hossa's going to jump to now that he has the Cup. :blah: Being with three teams in three years, he's certainly proven he has no loyalty.

It's good for hockey that ratings are on the upswing. This is the first time in years that I haven't seen the last game - then again, Detroit and Pittsburgh (our family's two teams) weren't in it. I'd have watched it if I had remembered it was on, but I forgot (even though I did try to find it on tv the day before :shuffle:)

I think Hossa signed a multi-year deal with Chicago.

Yay! Both Toews & Sharp were clean shaven today and looking mighty fine! :grope:

It's good for hockey that ratings are on the upswing.

It's the best Stanley Cup television ratings in the US since 1974. :)

ETA: The Hershey Bears are about to win the Calder Cup. They had how many more weeks of playoff activity than their NHL parents, the Washington Capitals? :P

Yes and no...He was great during the Playoffs, but just so so during the Regular Season. The biggie though is that I heard he's going to be a Free Agent come July 1st. Better to get rid of his salary now and free up some Cap money to sign someone else the Habs have their eyes on.

In other news....

Congratulations Rob Blake on an incredable career!! Enjoy your retirement!!

Congratulations Maple Leafs Captain Dion Phanuef!! About time we had a Captain again.
