I love reading Stanley Cup stories. (http://popwatch.ew.com/2010/05/29/stanley-cup-finals-celeb-encounters/)

Oh, I think both are tied there Ashley.
Still happy the Hawks pulled it off last night. Hoping tomorrow night's game is far better now that both teams have the jitters out.
edited to add...
Ever since the ’94 New York Rangers returned Lord Stanley in three pieces, the Cup has had a constant chaperone.
WHAT!?!
This is the first I've heard *that* before. Wow...I don't even want to think what must have gone on at the HHOF when the Cup came back like that. Yeeeks!!!

There was a feature about the Cup on CBS Sunday Morning a couple of years ago. The video is no longer available online, but the transcript is.

Lucky for Geist, he got to spend 24 hours with the cup. They went to the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and even the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where Stanley met some of his ancestors — Roman silver-smithing made over 2,000 years ago.
Geist even took Stanley rowing in Central Park for a brief respite from the swarms of fans.
I remember seeing a life jacket on the Cup when it was in the rowboat  .
The video finished with the reporter lying in bed with it, saying "Good Night, Stanley  ".

The 'nucks would have treated it better had they won it that year :(

Well my mom and sister are happy with the Philly win, I am not. The only reason they want those bullies to win is because it would mean Stanley would visit our hometown (or 20 minutes away in Petrolia). However, I don't know if Leighton still lives in this area of the world let alone bring the Cup here. I have to admit, it would be exciting to see it but having to say Stanley Cup champs are the Flyers would leave a bad taste in my mouth.
BTW, what IS it with Pronger getting away with crosschecking players and not getting called. I saw one play where he did it three times in a row and nothing. That man is annoying beyond belief.

Fine, Philly's one win is over and done with. :blah: Besides, with those :EVILLE: :lynch: fans in the Comcast Center, imagine what would have happened if the Flyers lost! :yikes: Did you see the two Blackhawk fans in the audience cautiously applauding their team scoring a goal? :cheer: :shuffle: I hope they were wearing bulletproof vests.
During game 1 on NBC I liked how they used Ryan Miller for between period analysis. For game 2 they used Jeremy Roenick, which is understandable because he played for both teams, but I'm tired of listening to him  .
And  that the games in Philadelphia are on cable but the games in Chicago are on NBC :2faced: .

Last night on CBC, Ron MacLean and Gary Bettman engaged in yet another televised debate about the NHL's finances and future. They both got their shots in, both made their points and the hockey world was buzzing about the tense, sometimes acrimonious match of wits:

You are likely right. I didn't watch much of that series since it was west coast and too late for me to stay up and watch.
Not sure how long Byfuglien has been getting away with such behaviour, but Pronger has been at it for quite a while and I've even heard hockey commentators/analysts wonder how he manages to "walk that line" or in some cases they actually come out and say they find it strange that Pronger doesn't get called for all the interference and other things he does but those same actions by another player results in a penalty. Pronger - his play and antics =

That was the most entertaining game of the Final yet.
Glad to see Pronger got a seat in the Penalty Box for a wee bit tonight. About time too!!
Game Six will be rather interesting.

Wow!! What an end to one heck of a fun spring. :D
Congratulations Chicago Blackhawks and the Fans!!!
Still can't get over the winning goal though. What is it this year w/these fluky goals winning Major Hockey Championships? First Sidney Crobsy's Golden Goal in Vancouver and now Patrick Kane's tonight. Odd is the only word I can think of to describe it.
But it's a good kind of an odd. ;)
Oh and Jonathan Toews? Thank you so much for making me bawl my eyes out on the Elliptical, and in turn having that wicked stinging feeling of sweat and tears combining, by yelling for Hossa to take the Cup after you recieved it from Bettmann. That was a class, class act right there and you Blackhawk fans should be so proud to have such a classy young kid as your Captain.
Still can't get over the group portrait/picture of him and his family when he was a little kid that HNIC showed tonight. Jonathan's probally 6, his younger brother 4 and there's the two of them sitting in front of their parents proudly wearing Chicago Blackhawks jerseys/sweaters.
Eerie isn't the word for that, but it's a pretty cool kind of an eerie. :D
What a Playoffs we had this Spring and it was a blast sharing it w/all of you.
:) Congratulations Chicago Blackhawks. 2010 Stanley Cup Champions. :)

Yes. My congrats to them, too! Especially for beating to Flyers...;)
I can remember the last one the Blackhawks won. It actually does not seem that long ago. In fact, it seems to be more recent than the Panthers last playoff appearance....:biggrinbo
