So tonight we find out who plays the Sharks in the semi-finals?
Yes, I do have a one tracked mind when it comes to hockey...

Um yeah, if Pittsburgh loses on Wednesday I guess I'll automatically be rooting for whatever team comes out of the West. The three teams left in the East would be the Flyers (ew), the Habs (ewwwwwwwww), and the team benefitting the most from the Leaf's suckage.

Once my team goes out, then my summer begins. Bye Canucks--it's not been a blast. At least Victoria will get Canadian Nationals.

View from Montreal: Legendary Beliveau recalls 1st game at Arena

In the beginning, it was Montreal and the Penguins

Wednesday, May 12, 2010
By Dave Stubbs, Montreal Gazette

Jean Béliveau recalls the live penguin in this urban igloo, but not his historic goal, the winner in the Montreal Canadiens' 2-1 victory against the Penguins Oct. 11, 1967 to open the Civic Arena.

It's worth revisiting today, the final time the Canadiens will play a game in the 49-year-old building known since 1999 as Mellon Arena. And, if Montreal beats their host tonight in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinal, it will be the Penguins' final game here, too, because they will move across the street to Consol Energy Center next season.

Tonight, Le Gros Bill will be in front of his television pulling for the team whose jersey he pulled on in 1953 and has never taken off.

"The noise in the Bell Centre has been beautiful," he said. "The crowds have been outstanding. Some are surprised the Canadiens are still fighting so hard, but I can feel the passion in the players and the fans. [Tonight], we're going to see a great game."

The first game I ever attended a game at the Civic Arena was the Penguins vs. the Canadiens, a regular season game in 1989. The Penguins won in overtime. :watch:

------------

And an example of the golden thread of hockey, the last time a team was up 3 games to 0 and lost the series: Penguins, to the Islanders. The Flyers are keeping that in mind :P .

For the Flyers, the Miracle March is gaining momentum.

They are halfway toward becoming the third team in NHL history to win a playoff series after losing the first three games. Toronto accomplished the feat in 1942, and the New York Islanders did it in 1975.

So sad for the 'nucks, now I have no team in the West for which I will cheer.
Ahhhhh, come on Habs. Do it again. Stun again all those who don't believe you are capable of performing an upset in game seven again. I'll have to make sure I have a cushion around so I can "peek" from behind it at times if the Habs have a slim lead. I will be holding bated breath for that first goal - it is going to be HUGE.
Go Hab Go!!

That was beyond painful to watch last night. The Canucks didn't even bother showing up.

If they don't take the C away from Luongo this summer, then they're nuts. Should never have done that in the first place, as a Goalie's got too much on his plate to begin w/. Give that responsiblity to someone else and let Roberto concentrate on his game.

GO HABS GO!!!

^^ Totally agree! That was a brutal game. Boyfriend was pouting all night haha. Can somebody tell me why the frick Salo was playing?? He could hardly move out there! Total detriment to the team.. it was ridiculous!

Looks like Montreal is our last hope!

 Game 7. Start of 2nd, Habs 4-0. Adam Rippon tweeted "Go Pens!" and said he's watching w/ "with the cast." I asked him if I can assume he's alone in rooting for Pittsburgh. :D

Can you all believe this? Never would I think it would be 4-0 in the 2nd for Montreal. The Pens look like they're sleepwalking out there.

That was one beauty of a goal Cammeleri scored from his knees.

Pens Goal...4-1!!

Oh my freaking holy...THEY PULLED IT OFF!!!

Midnight has *not* struck yet for Cinderella and now they're just waiting to see who they play in the Conference Finals.

Here's hoping the Party in Montreal stays that way. A Party and nothing but a Party. The Bell Centre looked packed and the atmosphere in there looked amazing. Too bad they didn't ask people to bring non perishable food items, because the Food Banks could have gotten a great donation tonight. Still...They said the tickets sold to get into the building tonight will be going to Charity, so some organization out there's getting a big donation, so it's all good. :)

As for the other series...Game Seven Boston and Philly on Friday night. The last ten minutes of Game Six was something and then some. Little bit of everything and a Penalty Shot to boot. WOW!!!

Which is great for Montreal. W/Bruins/Flyers going the full Seven, that backs up the start of the Conference Finals and that's nothing but good for Montreal when it comes to their injuries. I mean...Even Hal Gill said he maybe shouldn't have been out there tonight, but w/it being Game Seven and the team needed him.

Friday night's going to be awfully interesting!!! Can't wait!! :D

Figure skating/ hockey crossover. I liked this until I realized isn't this CheapShot the Turtle? (http://yfrog.com/jk1k9j) :P (Hmm, my old Red Wing fandom just reflexively resurfaced. :D) Oh well, the girl on the left is still cute.

Tweeted: "Never thought I'd be impressed by a guy's blings!" (http://yfrog.com/3dcpdj)

(I wonder if this was the same place Rippon said he was watching the game tonight.)

Haba daba doooooooo!!!!
I think a number of people may now be singing a new/old song (one by the Monkees)
Now I'm a believer.

Wonder how many will jump on the bandwagon.?

As much as I enjoyed the Penguins winning last year, my heart is always cheering for a team based in Canada.

Yipeee!! I am pumped!

In Carolina, it's "Staal good" x 2 now :psoty: :psoty:

The Carolina Hurricanes picked up Jared Staal from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for a mid-round draft pick in the upcoming entry draft in a trade announced on Thursday.
