What?! After their fantastic season?

Ice Edge Holdings Inc.’s chances of acquiring the Phoenix Coyotes were suddenly revived Friday, and so were the chances of the Coyotes remaining in Arizona.

ESPN.com, citing sources, reported Friday night that the city of Glendale, Ariz., and Ice Edge, a group of U.S. and Canadian investors, have agreed “on all points on a new lease agreement” for Jobing.com Arena.

http://www.thestarphoenix.com/Edge+Glendale+discussing+Coyotes+purchase/3000491/story.html

"While we understand the current situation with the hockey team in Glendale is an uncertain one, we will continue to respect the efforts of all parties involved to maintain the Coyotes in Arizona, including those of the National Hockey League. As we have stated many times in the past, if that situation changes, we are certainly open to reviewing the opportunity with the NHL.

"We would further point out that while Mr. David Thomson is an equity investor in True North Sports & Entertainment, he does not take an active role in the day-to-day operations of the company. Mr. Thomson is however aware of the situation involving the National Hockey League in Glendale and is very supportive of True North’s efforts to return the NHL to Winnipeg, should the opportunity arise."

Oh, and I sort of watched the hockey game with the largest attendance ever: USA vs. Germany in a German soccer stadium  (except for USA losing in overtime :( )

One side happy - Jonathan Toews - wooo hooo - go Manitoba guy go! He is a star and a leader and soooo young.

And such a classy kid too. Loved how he just stated how things went last night and didn't rub it in or gloat at all. Chicago's lucky to have gotten him, as I think he really does an excellent job of keeping Kane and Kane's temper in check out there on the ice.

My bf was so mad watching that game last night.

He wasn't the only one!!

That penalty that one of the Sedins got for cross checking because his stick broke was ridiculous! Those frickin sticks can break with the slightest touch! How many broken sticks do we see in a game where the player barely touches the puck and the stupid thing shatters? Sedin barely touched the guy!

I'm on the Stationary Bike when that happened and the parents are upstairs watching the Blue Jays in extra innings and after I stopped yelling at the TV, I hear...

Think she's okay?

You going down to check?

I'm not going down there, are you going down there?

:D

They did a better job of trying to crash the net last night.. but still too many attempted screen shots from the point. They don't work. They need to get in Niemmi's face more they way Chicago is doing with Luongo. And why so much passing?? If you have a shot at the net.. take it! They can't afford to be picky at this point.

For reference see ~ Crosby, Sidney : Golden Goal, Vancouver Gold Medal Mens Hockey Game.

That drives me more crazy than anything else. Quit the stupid passing of the puck because you're allowing the defence to be able to get into proper positition to stop whatever you're attempting. Shoot the damnned thing and who knows!!

Good luck tonight to the Habs!!

And another team I was pulling for bites the dust ... {sigh}
Getting fewer and fewer teams left for me to watch hockey. Let's see
Montreal - still in -- good.
Vancouver - still in -- good.
OK, guess I can still watch some hockey for a bit longer - at least until Monday night.

As for sticks exploding - happened in a Habs-Penguins game (I forget which one). Penguns player (think it was Crosby) had his stick already quite bent and he gets a little tap on it, it breaks and up goes the arm of the zebra. Next period an actual slash on a Montreal player's stick - NO CALL! and I'm guessing it was because 1) it didn't break and 2) it wasn't one of the league's superstars. Man, the officiating has been biased far too often. Pretty bad when even Don Cherry (who is NOT a Habs fan) points out how things are called with a bias.

Yipee!!!! The 'nucks live to see another day! WTG guys.
Also, can someone explain to me why one of the Canuck players (forget his name) wore a stick to the nose/eye area from a Blackhawk player, had blood pouring out of his wound and NOTHING was called? Makes me  at the officiating again.

My boyfriend just came out and told me about that.. yikes!

Much better game last night. Boyfriend's not impressed because I'm dragging him out for dinner tomorrow night. It's the only day everyone (my best friend and her hubby) is available this week and I've been absolutely craving BBQ ribs!

Didn't realize my favorite former Penguin is injured:

After taking a spill and being inadvertently stomped on by Chris Kunitz in the third period in Game 5, the 6-foot-7 blue-liner was forced to leave the game early, heading to the hospital for treatment instead of home to Montreal with the rest of his teammates.

“Hal’s status will be determined probably after the warmup to see how he feels, and whether he’s capable of playing or not will be decided at that time,” divulged head coach Jacques Martin

And why can't I watch the Bruins/Flyers game tonight? :mitchell: It's not even on NHL Center Ice. :wall:

GAME SEVEN BABY!!!

And one of my former favourite Flames had one heck of a game tonight and a very much deserved First Star to boot!!

Anyone else see coverage of the unveiling of Bobby Orr's statue in Boston earlier today? Whomever did it, did a wonderful job on it.

edited to add... HNIC's reporting that negotiations between the City of Glendale and the Ice Edge people have fallen through and that this time, it sounds like their attempt to buy the Coyotes is done.

Haven't heard anything more than that, but if that's true...I'm sure Winnipeg's hopes have been lifted by that piece of news.

If there was a team that I thought would beat the Capitals and take the Penguins to the limit right after... it would never have been the Canadiens. Like never, ever. Maybe in the late 80s and early 90s, but not in the last 10 to 15 years!

Even if they win game 7, how could they win the Stanley Cup? They must all be so tired and hurting everywhere, 14 games in 27 days against the best teams among the league! :duh: I thought that if they were to have a chance, they would need a break before the third series. And Boston is playing so well!

Ole, ole, ole, ole. Wish my Habs go all the way!!

WTG, my little team that can. Unbelieveable what they are doing to teams who are "so much better than they". Game 7, here we come again!
