2-1 for the Canucks after the first period. I hope they win, it'll give them such good momentum into their two home games they could maybe take it in 4.
Ugh.. such a sad, sad game. How do you come out gang busters in the first 5 minutes and then look like you don't even know how to play the game? Taking Luongo out for the last couple of minutes was so dumb because they were terrible on the power play practically the whole game (making a lot of pretty passes but not making a run at the goal), so having one more person wasn't gonna make a difference, and Luongo was the only one keeping them in it! Ridiculous game.

Crap, so much for my beloved Red Wings winning another Stanley Cup. :(
Talk about giving the game away, they led 3-1 in the final period. I really thought this series would be payback for 94 when #1 Detroit seed lost to #8 San Jose in the 1st rd.
Oh well, guess I'll just have to be content with 4 Stanley Cups in the last 13 years. :P
Think I'll root for Vancouver now to make the finals in the west although San Jose has never made the finals right?

I need a cold shower due to the thought of a possible porny matchup: Blackhawks vs. Sharks :swoon: . Wouldn't mind seeing a few sekret cameras in those locker rooms :grope: .
Jordan Staal skating so soon after surgery?

Can't believe that's actually Jean Beliveau in the audience :fragile: . He was so :smokin: last year.

ETA: My YouTube videos from the epic 2009 Capitals vs. Penguins game (two hat tricks) turned one year old this week. YouTube informed me that my 'Reaction of Ovechkin hat trick' video might be eligible for :bribe: if I allowed ads to be added for future views. Tempting, but I did record it during a televised game. Neither the NHL nor TV networks would be amused :lynch: , so I won't go there :shuffle: .

Due to a screwup/oversight on my part, I didn't realize VIA Rail didn't have a Toronto-Vancouver train Mondays and ended up spending an extra night and day in Toronto. What's that got to do w/this thread? Well...Since the train leaves at 10pm and check out is at noon, there I was in Toronto w/a bunch of time to kill.
So, for both days since I didn't know what the hrs were and didn't get a chance to see everything...I boot scooted to the Hockey Hall of Fame on both days. :D
The last time I was there was back in 2002 when I went to give The Lucky Loonie a Good Luck rub and... Wow have things changed since then and then some!! The International section was under construction then and is that something to see. The entire place is something to see and I highly reccomend going.
Oh yeah...There's this one showcase that's got all this stuff in it from something that happened back in February, out in BC. Nothing to see in that showcase sadly.
;)
*The* puck is in smack in the centre of the display, w/the flag the Guys took around the ice at Canada Hockey Place after the win, along w/a couple of sticks, Hailey Wickenheiser's jersey and a certain red tie from McGill University. It's a great display and just about everyone was getting their picture beside the puck. :D
Sigh...Oh Canucks. :( That was painful to watch.

Ouf. What if the Nashville Predators were still in the playoffs?
Water began entering Bridgestone Arena on Sunday (May 2).
By Monday morning (May 3), there were 1-2 inches of standing water – which rose throughout the day.
At that point, staff began relocating equipment from the control room, locker rooms, coaching offices and storage areas to higher locations.
On Monday afternoon (May 3), power, phones and computers were shut down due to standing water.
Due to the flooding and power outages, the Bridgestone Arena and Predators offices were closed on Monday (May 3) and Tuesday (May 4).

I think part of Vancouver's problem the other night was at home jitters. At least I *think* that's what the problem was. I knew it could be a rough one for the Canucks, as when Chicago was shown leaving their Dressing Room, I turned to my Dad and said...
Uh oh...The Hawks are looking awfully loosy goosey there.
And what is w/the horrible ref-ing calls and non calls for both the Canucks and the Habs!?! I haven't heard Jim Hughson that ticked off during a Broadcast ever before and you could tell that Bob Cole wasn't too impressed either last night w/the crap going on during the Habs game.
I get the NHL wants the US teams to do well in the misplaced hope that would make hockey more popluar South of the Border, but this isn't helping. It's hurting the game instead.
Not that Bettman and his cronies care about that.
Oh...One thing I didn't mention about my visit to the Hall of Fame earlier this week...
When I last visited back in 2002, the Conference Trophies weren't there, as the Conference Finals were going on and the Prince of Wales Trophy was actually claimed that night. So Tuesday afternoon, as I didn't get to the Great Hall on Monday, was the first time I've ever seen both The Prince of Wales Trophy and The Clarence Campbell Trophy in front of me.
The Campbell "bowl" is nice, but compared to the PoW Trophy, it looks a little Kindergarder-ish in design. The PoW Trophy is gorgeous!!!! It was made in the late 1800's and was made by a Master Silversmith. All of the heraldic designs for Canada at that time are on it, as well as The Prince of Wales feathers/insignia. What I never noticed before until looking at it up close the other day though, is the chunk of some sort of rough looking crystal that's in the center of the base and that the crossed hockey sticks are going over to hold up the bowl type portion of the Trophy.
Reason I say "rough looking" is because it's cloudy looking. I asked what it was, but the guy working in the Great Hall didn't know. If I had to take an educated guess, I'm saying it could be an Agate stone or Quartz, but since that sparkle wasn't there...I'm leaning more to an Agate. It truly is a gorgeous Trophy and I also made the guy working in that area a good laugh too. He happened to be close by when I stopped in front of the showcase and heard me say....
So here's the Trophy Sidney Crosby didn't want any part of holding last Spring.
:D
So...Is tonight the end of the Flyers season? Going to be an interesting game, that's for sure!!

HUH??? How does this fit in with talking about NHL hockey?
Back to the 'nucks - alas, thing are not looking for our other Canadian team who are now down 3-1 in the series. I really thought they would have managed to notch the series at 2 like Montreal has - maybe they need the "little hockey team that thinks it can" mentality.
Officiating against Canadian teams has been questionable often and in pretty much every game. Bettman may want an all American final but if that happens, I'll boycott watching anything further even though I love the game of hockey and there are some American teams I actually enjoy watching.
I wish that little man and his syndrome would go back to the NBA and leave our game alone. :angryfire He just doesn't get it that his "beloved" teams are basically being supported by those six teams who play "north of the 49th". Yet another small man who wields too much power. It's gone to his head - any chance it'll get so puffed up and explode. Yes, I am an :EVILLE: Canadian.

My bf was so mad watching that game last night.
That penalty that one of the Sedins got for cross checking because his stick broke was ridiculous! Those frickin sticks can break with the slightest touch! How many broken sticks do we see in a game where the player barely touches the puck and the stupid thing shatters? Sedin barely touched the guy!
They did a better job of trying to crash the net last night.. but still too many attempted screen shots from the point. They don't work. They need to get in Niemmi's face more they way Chicago is doing with Luongo. And why so much passing?? If you have a shot at the net.. take it! They can't afford to be picky at this point.
