The puck is about to drop in San Jose. Sharks vs. Red Wings. :yikes:

It is. :saint:

RedWings not ready for the Shark Tank, apparently, partially thanks to the Big Pavelski :kickass: .

WOW, so many upsets in the East in the first rd. Who would have thunk it? Seeds 6,7,and 8 all advance. Has that ever happened before? I'll bet big that the Penguins advance now to their 3rd straight finals.

Commentator mentioned that this is the first time in 30 years that the Bruins/Flyers have met in the play-offs! That's a shock.

Thankful my beloved Red Wings won game 7 over Phoenix!! And they did in style crushing them 6-1. Glad I didn't have to sweat that one out. Detroit will probably lose game 1 to San Jose but in the end I'm betting they get the best of San Jose. Revenge for 94(?) when SJ was an 8 seed and beat a #1 seed Detroit team.

Could be a Detroit/Pittsburgh Stanley Cup final for the 3rd year in a row?!?!?!

I didn't get to watch my Habs but was checking on the score.
WOW!!!!
and to paraphrase what they often sing in the Habs arena (Ovay Ovay Ovay Ovay, good-bye Ovay!) OK, not very original I realize but my little guys did it. Taking on the Penguins - that will be another story and I series I'm really looking forward to seeing.
As I've read on TSN, the Caps got Halaked. Works for me :)

This isn't much of a surprise, but NBC has once again told the Penguins to pull the plug on the wildly popular big screen outside Gate 3 for Sunday's Game 2.

NBC, which unlike other league broadcasters such as FSN Pittsburgh or Versus, pull the same move last season when it wouldn't allow the Penguins or any other American team to set up similar viewing parties.

Stupid. You know what else is stupid? Versus doesn't broadcast the national anthems at the beginning of playoff games  .

Although the Penguins declined to divulge the nature or severity of Staal's injury, he appeared to have been cut by Subban's skate and left the arena on crutches.

The unofficial word was that Staal could be out for a period of weeks.

Outrage, accusations over officiating in Wings' loss to Sharks

Tom Poti expected to make full recovery

Tom Poti didn't want to do his final interview of the season on camera.

Given the swath of stitches on the right side of his face, his blood-filled eye, and the black-and-blue bruise surrounding it, his request was totally understandable.

"There are four fractures in there, so they put four plates in there, a bunch of screws and stitches," he said. "I broke my orbital bone, nasal bone, another one on this side and the bone that holds all my teeth in, that one shattered, too."

Poti said he was temporarily blinded and that he knew right away that he was in trouble, which is why he headed off the ice during a penalty kill.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/capitalsinsider/poti-expected-to-make-full-rec.html

Poti said he'll take a visor home with him this summer and "toy around" with it and "see if I can get used to it." But he stopped short of committing to wearing one next season.

:wall: Makes me wonder if he suffered a brain injury as well :(

-------------------

It's pack-up-the-gear day for the Washington Capitals, as players debrief the media after their epic collapse in the first round against the Montreal Canadiens. Capitals star Alex Ovechkin addressed reporters Friday morning and here are some of the highlights:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Ovechkin-I-have-the-chance-to-score-goals-I-d?urn=nhl,237880

I heard on HNiC radio experts dissecting the Capitals' playoff autopsy. Regarding Ovechkin, some think he hasn't been the same since being criticized for his "the stick is hot, hot, hot" celebration when he scored his 50th goal last year during an away game. One noticed he hasn't been as aggressive since being suspended for boarding a Blackhawk a few weeks ago. Another claimed he knows someone close to Ovechkin. :sekret: told him for the past year he's been obsessed with negative comments about him, both in Russian and English. Instead of using it as a possible constructive criticism, it's just consuming him in a negative way.

OTOH, the Penguins aren't exactly walking all over the Canadiens, so...

2-1 for the Canucks after the first period. I hope they win, it'll give them such good momentum into their two home games they could maybe take it in 4.
