ETA - TG, it took you 2.5 minutes to decide Bon Jovi was an excellent choice? That was 1.2 seconds for me :P

It was 2.5 minutes of thinking up people who would make a good half time show choice. As soon as Bon Jovi came up, it was decided.

We had this exact same discussion and reached the exact same conclusion  Bon Jovi has to do the SB now.

That would be a very good choice, but I'm afraid the network executives would think Bon Jovi is too young. Maybe in ten years. ;)

And I think that the Saints deserve the celebration, but I am a little tired of "when the Saints come marching in...".

I missed the NBC Nightly News, but the parade was planned two weeks ago and they were going to have a parade whether or not the Saints won.

As for being a little tired of that song, well, it's been 44 long years and we finally get to sing that song as champions. New Orleans has a ton of Saints songs and local songs they've been looping around since we made it to the Superbowl. You know you don't have to listen, right? ;)

In state PBS carried the New Orleans local station WWL's coverage of the entire parade on LPB-2. Their cameras were in different locations along the route from the Superdome to city hall etc. It was JOY, JOY, JOY. Better than Mardi Gras. The Saint's team and staff were on Mardi Gras parade floats loaned by about 12 local krewes. There were also about a dozen local bands from high schools, Tulane, and the military. The newly elected mayor rode in the parade on the fire dept's old steam truck. The team members threw beads, and some signed autographs when the floats stopped periodically along the route. In front of Gallier Hall which I think was city hall, the outgoing mayor (whom everyone hates and is glad to see go) along with the governor and US Senator each raised a glass and toasted Saints owner Benson who was on the first float. The mayor gave him the key to the city. The end of the parade had a jubilant Coach Peyton raising the Lombardi trophy for the people of New Orleans. Never seen anything like it. And for all the Mardi Gras parades I've been to in my life, I've never seen crowds like that.

Some coworkers and I braved the crowd yesterday and went to the Saints victory parade! It was a blast. But I've never seen crowds like that EVER. Must have been 30 deep where I was standing on St. Charles Ave.

The players were all having a great time. Drew Brees was off the chart with his excitement and well he was pretty drunk. One of my friends was standing later in the parade and when Brees' float got to where they were standing, backup quarterback Chase Daniel was literally hanging onto Drew's belt/shirt to keep him from falling off the float! Garrett Hartley who kicked us into the Super Bowl was feeling no pain either. He was interviewed on local TV after the parade was over with and it was hilarious. At one point he said "we didn't know what to accept".

So now on to the off season. Kinda sad but I guess I'll have a grin on my face when I think of this past season till mid-July!!

I wonder how long it will take ESPN to report this. Will there be sportscasters on the channel 24/7 contemplating what this means to humankind a la Tiger Woods?

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that I can't find anything about it yet on ESPN.com. I mean, I know this is all alleged, but usually in certain other cases, that doesn't stop ESPN from reporting it.

It's certainly not front and center on the site but there is a video in their NFL section.

Oh wow. I hope it's not true, mostly for the girl's sake. I hate to think of anyone going through that kind of trauma. :(

Thanks milanessa, I was probably jumping to conclusions. I agree Cheylana that I hope it isn't true, especially for the girl's sake and I also would not want to assume anything too soon about Roethlisberger.

Stupid move by the Eagles - it's intra division. :wall:

Stupid move for the Skins. McNabb isn't worth the price we paid any more.

ITA. Why do the Redskins specialize in overpaid stars on the downward slope of their careers? And trade away draft choices for them: :wall:

I thought Shanahan would be a welcome break from Dan Snyder's incompetence and now am pretty unsure of that.
