The Afternoon Swirl, a radio program in New Orleans, was complaining about how playing the Colts isn't as much fun as the Vikings or the Cardinals because you can't really trash-talk them as much. The Manning family is VERY popular here, and it just doesn't seem right somehow.
However, that feeling has not stopped the general ridiculousness of a NOLA team in the Superbowl--we now have about 3 CDs worth of original music, and another CD of "remakes" (a la the hideous Party in the MIA to Miley Cyrus's Party in the USA). Bring in a dollar on Friday for Haiti relief, and wear your Saints jersey instead of uniform. Which was fine until this Friday when a student came in wearing a Colts jersey, and the ACLU is now involved. Now, the ACLU doesn't have a case because the choices were VERY clear--SAINTS jerseys or uniform. OTOH, the kid is originally from Indiana and the jersey # he was wearing is someone who played for LSU, which was a thoughtful compromise. The school could have spun it as he was sent home because of fear of fights, but NO student complained (they didn't care)...it was the faculty. The principal alledgedly told him, well, if you like Indiana so much, why don't you go back to where you came from?
Reports are we're overrunning Miama, and there was a spontaneous parade there yesterday (that's all we do here you know) and someone drove a bus decorated for the Super Bowl...complete with a stuffed dummy of Manning on the front. I know it wouldn't happen being in the same division and all, but if that's how we're treating a "friendly" football team, I'd hate to see what people would come up with if we were playing the Falcons or the Cowgirls in the Superbowl.
