Alright, a bit more fluffy stuff...

First off, did you guys know that ASKars could basically kill a guy with his bare hands? He is a former anti-terrorist Swedish marine (http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/tv_and_radio/article7031443.ece) trained in hand-to-hand combat, small-squad battle tactics, beach landings and anti-sabotage assaults.

Ok, that's hot.

Alright, for those who have read the books, looks like they're definitely combining bits of book 4 with book 3 for the 3rd season (which kind of works since they already know they've been picked up for a 4th season). Just take a look at this casting call....

Claudine. She is described as a beautiful, kind and loving figure in her 30’s -40’s who knows a lot about Sookie and appears to Sookie in a golden vision. However, their utopia is abruptly dismantled when Claudine issues Sookie a mysterious warning.
The casting call says it may be a recurring role, so we'll see how similar to the book it will be... Personally, I pictured someone younger than what it calls for, but who knows. Source - plus a few other casting calls (http://truebloodnet.com/true-blood-season-3-casting-calls-title-episode-7/)

And a previously mentioned 'casting call' has been cast (again, a book 4 character) Calvin Norris. He's listed as a 'strong recurring' character and first appears in Season 3, episode 2, and is a were, though it doesn't specify if he's a were-panther like in the books. Source (http://truebloodnet.com/true-blood-season-3-casting-news-calvin-norris/)

HBO has released a video showing some upcoming things on their channel. There are a few mini-bits with True Blood. We see glimpses of Bill, Sookie, Eric and Jessica. They are all just glimpses of running or just standing around (like Eric looking smoldering in an empty Fangtasia) but the Jessica bit is a teeny bit spoilery - she appears to be dragging a dead body into Casa de Vamprire (hers and Bill's house) Source (http://truebloodnet.com/video-true-blood-season-3-spoiler-hbo-promo/)

Finally, it has been confirmed that True Blood will be at Comic-Con in San Diego again this year (though the attendees haven't been named yet). Comic-Con runs from July 22 to 25, with a preview night on July 21.

I did too, but they made Pam a fair bit older as well (well, human age, I think they made her younger in vampiric years), so it might work out just fine.

"Question: Any new scoop on the upcoming season of True Blood? —Candy
Ausiello: I’m 90 percent certain this is new: Mariana Klaveno is returning as Bill’s maker, Lorena, for roughly six episodes. Ask Ausiello (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/03/17/ask-ausiello-spoilers-true-blood-lost/)

Seems to indicate they are following the book with the culprit of the kidnapping, since we've heard Bill will be kidnapped for about 6 episodes.

Also, Alan Ball has confirmed that there will be no Bubba. So does that mean no almost sex between Eric and Sookie when going to save Bill?

Carrie Preston (Arlene) has joined the cast of The Good Wife. She will still be Arlene, but will also be on the other show. In other news for her, she has dyed her blonde hair red, opting to ditch the wig on the show and be a bit more recognizable (she says that even people she works with wouldn't recognize her without her wig). The Good Wife info (http://truebloodnet.com/carrie-preston-takes-role-good-wife/), Redhead (http://truebloodnet.com/video-true-blood-carrie-preston-redhead/)

Finally, the first review of Dead in the Family, the 10th Sookie Stackhouse novel has come out and gives a bit of info on the book:
When Claudine’s triplet, Claude, appears at her doorstep, Sookie reluctantly allows him to move in. The government threatens two-natures with mandatory registration, and tensions run high in the local Were pack. Then Eric’s maker, a Roman named Appius Livius Ocella, arrives without warning, bringing along Alexei Romanov, whom he rescued from the Bolsheviks and turned into a vampire. The review says it's a bit slow-moving, but I'm excited for it!!

I'm getting dizzy from so many characters, some stay for a long time--others just a few eposides.

Alright... a very brief promo for Season 3 involving a very angry (and bloody) Eric...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQkN2CoiPJ4. I think they modified a piece of the book because of the lack of Bubba. I think it's the bit where the Were comes into Merlotte's looking for Sookie but Bubba kills him. I'm assuming it's Sookie with the gun there and that either she and Sam called Eric for his help, or he was there already and he's trying to find out info...

Also, nothing official, but apparently Alexander is being screen tested for Captain America. Chris Evans has been offered the part but as of yet has supposedly not accepted/ The rumors are because it's a very low salary for such a movie, and he may be doing another Fantastic Four movie, so Alex and Kellan Lutz are being screen tested for back-up choices. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=16106 The biggest thing going against Alex for the part is that he's not American, but hey, they cast an Aussie as Thor...

The rumors about Captain America are all over the place. The only rumor that seems confirmed is that Chris Evans has been offered. Beyond that, pretty much every publicist for a young male actor is claiming they are up for Captain America. The casting for Captain America is odd because there are reports that it is a 9-movie commitment that includes appearances in sequels and spin-offs, including an Avengers franchise.

My personal speculation (based on the books and previous spoilers):
Lorena will be the female who dies. She's not a major character, but she was in the opening credits for half the season last year and has been said to come back for 6 episodes this season. She is also a female character, and Sookie kills her in the books. I think Arlene's shocking news is that she's pregnant, because IIRC earlier in the off season it mentioned that she and Terry had some shocking stuff happening. Also, Arlene isn't very big in the books, and with Sookie off looking for Bill, Sam off with his parents, for some reason I'm thinking we won't see much of Merlotte's this season anyways. Besides, isn't Carrie Preston just doing 'multiple episodes' of The Good Wife' - she's not joining the main cast forever. Just my thoughts.

This week's promo: Sam
Not quite as intriguing as the Eric one (though still with the sense of danger).

Also, each week, in addition to the promos, apparently HBO is releasing a new poster for the new season. Last week's was awesome and I absolutely love it:
http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/36600/true-blood-season-three-teaser-poster. I'm kind of want it.

Nothing else really new and exciting, except for the casting of a character mentioned in the books: Holly (though they're casting her a bit different from the books.)
Holly is the mother of two, probably single and in her 30’s. Holly has a natural gift for “seeing” future events, which long-term Merlotte’s employee Arlene finds very creepy.
I kind of don't like this because One of the big things about Sookie is how different she is from everyone. If she works with a psychic that kind of takes away from that and really changes things. Plus, Holly is supposed to be involved in the big events of book 4, so I really hope they make her Wiccan like in the books.

haha, I love the poster.

In kind of a shocker, Anna Paquin has just revealed that she is bisexual (Source) (http://www.thecelebritytruth.com/stars-give-damn-equality/0015332). She announced it in a new online public service announcement for the Give a Damn Campaign, aimed at promoting gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. Kevin Alejandro (new to the show for season 3) is also in the short video.

The next teaser poster has been put out for season 3. It's very simple but made me snort-laugh. VILF (http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/03/31/true-blood-season-3-poster-vilf/). Hmmm, which VILF would you chose? Eric? Bill? Pam? Godric? Jessica? Love it.

Another teaser: a photo in TV guide (http://skarsgardnews.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/s3teaser.jpg) of Eric and Sookie with a bit of a blurb from Alan Ball. Looks a bit intense. And like it's from the same scene as the Eric video teaser that was released last week (if only for the leather jacket).

According to Ausiello (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/03/31/ask-ausiello-true-blood-lost-glee/), they are currently shooting episode 6, which was written by Alan Ball. In said episode...
It contains what Ball describes as an “intense” Sookie/Eric moment. “Let’s put it this way,” he adds, “I think people will have strong feelings about it.” In possibly related news, Ball told TV Guide that “Sookie is sexually drawn to [Eric] because she’s had his blood. But there is another reason he’s drawn to her, one that will be revealed this season.”

And a bit more tongue in cheek from the same Ask Ausiello: Alan's response to a question as to why Eric's hair is noticeably darker...
Ausiello: “Because when vampires keep secrets from humans that they love, their hair follicles turn darker,” deadpans Alan Ball. “And that’s especially true if they’re carrying a torch for a blond waitress.” Very funny. The real reason, please? “Alexander made a movie during his hiatus and his hair was darker when he returned,” explains Ball with a laugh. “It wasn’t a choice [we made].”

First shot of Joe Manganiello as Alcide (Source) (http://truebloodnet.com/true-blood-season-3-spoiler-joe-manganiello-sexy-scenes/). Yum! Apparently the crew was amazed by Joe's abs, and he has already shot his first nude scene (yummo!). Link also mentions a bit of the plot involving Alcide.

In July a True Blood comic is going to be released. It will be a 6-issue series. I'm kind of excited to read it based on the summary:

In this tantalizing series spinning out of the hit show, blood and sex mix on a hot rainy night at Merlotte’s, when Sookie and her friends are trapped by a vengeful spirit who feeds on shame. People die and dirty secrets are revealed as Sookie, Bill, Eric, Sam, Tara, Jason, and Lafayette are all coerced to dig deep and tell painful memories from their past — those things we all have locked within us that we never tell another living soul!
