Just don't know what it is, but after watching the Tour of Attrition and Vuelta, I lost interest in figure skating a bit. Figure skating looks a bit too comfortable and too girlie for my taste.

On the other hand, the female skaters probably use fewer hair products than the Liquigas guys.

A few pics from the final day:

Boys will be boys (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/capress/f2/fullj.18047ea13caf2b6fba873fc362eb2275/capress-cycle_spanish_vuelta-203495926.jpg)

Valverde ready for the final stage (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/ff/fullj.6690679619ed00ef6051d56f29f85c9e/6690679619ed00ef6051d56f29f85c9e-getty-cycling-esp-vuelta-valverde.jpg)

Poor Cadel has nobody to spray (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/ap/20090920/capt.a448445e97bd4fa891226fb0f58bb14d.spain_vuelta _cycling_do105.jpg)

The final podium and some wonky Caisse d'Epargne shorts (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/rids/20090920/i/r3796497452.jpg)

Poor Benna misses the final stage win (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/02/fullj.5b15f8d8877974c721650a51f881235b/5b15f8d8877974c721650a51f881235b-getty-cycling-esp-vuelta-greipel.jpg) :(

And :respec: to Garmin's Julian Dean who is the only cyclist to finish all three grand tours this year (http://www.velonews.com/article/98005/alejandro-valverde-wins-his-first-grand-tour-as-greipel)

The Vuelta may be over, but at least we still have Worlds. The events start tomorrow, Sept 23, with the U23 time trial and the elite women's time trial.

The elite men's time trial is Thursday and their road race is Sunday. There's a complete schedule at Cyclingnews (http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/76th-uci-road-world-championships-cm)

I know Universal Sports is having some tv coverage, but I'm not sure if it's live or not. Even if it's not live on tv, it may be on their website. All else fails, check out Cyclingfans for internet links (http://www.cyclingfans.com/).

Cancellara is in good shape and aiming for a road race title in addition to a time trial win. I've read the course is pretty hilly (not a surprise in Switzerland) so it will tend not to favor pure sprinters. We'll see if any of the Classics guys have kept (or regained) form.

ETA: Jeff Louder off the US team with H1N1 virus.

Congrats to Kristin Armstrong for her women's TT win. She was planning to retire after this season, and I wonder if she'll still retire with the world title or if this will entice her to continue for another season.

Australian Jack Bobridge (nicknamed Jacky Bobby by Jonathan Vaughters) gets the men's U23 title for Australia. He's signed to ride for Garmin next year, and Vaughters tweeted that Bobridge was crying on the podium when they played the anthem, but then he tried to get the podium girls' phone numbers

Why no podium boys for women? Kristin Armstrong can hug two boys in one arm.

Agreed! Kristin wuzrobbed! All she got was some local politicians

But look at the large and enthusiastic crowd cheering her on! (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/ap/20090923/capt.men16109231647.switzerland_cycling_worlds_men 161.jpg)

And Longo (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/98/fullj.188872fc229a0bd88f42c13caf5f2b3a/188872fc229a0bd88f42c13caf5f2b3a-getty-cycling-world-women-tt-fra-longo.jpg) didn't podium, but :cheer: to her for being competitive at 51!

ETA: And Cavendish pulled out of the road race with an unspecified illness. The route didn't really suit him since the road race is supposed to be pretty hilly. However the time trial course is pretty flat and not technical, although some of the U23 guys said it's a bit deceptive.

Uggh. you fool me again! You, you, you!!

Cheers to Longo.

That's what I like about cycling. In figure skating, a 23-year old woman is on the verge of retirement. Cyclists at that age are just starting out their career. You never get too old in cycling.

The elite men's TT was truly something today - not often you see someone celebrate and soft pedal across the finish line (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/5f/fullj.d84944eea524ee1e94830720f53a16a4/d84944eea524ee1e94830720f53a16a4-getty-cycling-world-men-tt-cancellara.jpg) in a Worlds time trial - and he wasn't even the last man to go. That was an amazing ride! But I wish Zirbel could have held on for a medal.

Men's podium (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/b8/fullj.0faf8e10fdc7e2113f88507c5099c759/0faf8e10fdc7e2113f88507c5099c759-getty-cycling-world-men-tt-podium.jpg)

Track Nationals are in LA next weekend. :cheer: There's a practice race this weekend and a lot of elites will be there. Taylor Phiney is already in town and will be racing in the pro division Saturday.

I'll be there this weekend and next as I have friends racing both. Saturday and Sunday will be a lot of fun :)

Let me know if you want info.

I was travelling this morning, and couldn't watch the race live, but I have it taped and will watch it shortly. It sounds like a fantastic race, and kudos to Cadel for winning what sounds like an amazing race. He disproved his reputation as a non-aggressive racer with his attack.

I didn't really root for him a few years ago, and he's certainly been a bit testy at times, but he's won me over - mainly by being classy even though his team hasn't always treated him so well. Things seem to have hit an even new low point with this year's TdF and this championship must be wonderful redemption for him. Plus I love how devoted he is to his little mutt dog.
