Poor Cav. It's going to take a lot for him to ever top this year!

The pressure for Olympic gold will be very high for him next year. Sky's made it clear that as a British team the 2012 Olympics will be priority. Plus, he's still got a bit of a bitter taste at not joining the gold rush that the British track cyclists had in Beijing.
But he's got the birth of his first child to look forward to next year.

Cadel Evans and his wife are adopting a baby from Ethiopia (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cadel-evans-and-wife-adopt-baby-boy?ns_campaign=news&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_source=cyc lingnews&ns_linkname=0&ns_fee=0) :cheer: for the family.

I wonder what nationality Cadel's kid is going to get. Cadel is Australian, his wife is Italian, and they live in Switzerland (where getting citizenship or even residency is as complex as, well, a Swiss watch).

Love this blog from Jens Voigt with a classic Jens story! (http://bicycling.com/blogs/hardlyserious/2011/12/28/a-gift-from-jens/)

In the past I've linked articles by Kathryn Bertine, the former figure skater turned cyclist, who is on a quest to make the Olympics. Her latest column (http://espn.go.com/espnw/athletes-life/7528742/london-calling-disappointment-breeds-new-energy-kathryn-bertine)discusses her disappointment with the UCI and another challenge to her goal.

CAS rules Contador banned for 2 years (http://http://www.uci.ch/Modules/ENews/ENewsDetails2011.asp?id=NzgzNA&MenuId=MTYzMDQ&LangId=1&BackLink=%2FTemplates%2FUCI%2FUCI8%2Flayout%2Easp% 3FMenuID%3DMTYzMDQ%26LangId%3D1)(backdated to Jan 1, 2011), and he loses the 2010 TdF and 2011 Giro. Congrats to Andy on getting a Tour win. Given time for the "provisional suspension", he should be back in early August, right after the TdF.

He may, I believe, appeal to the Supreme Court of Switzerland. :sekret:
Andy's response to the ruling is quite respectable:
"There is no reason to be happy now”, Schleck said in a RadioShack-Nissan press release
“First of all I feel sad for Alberto. I always believed in his innocence. This is just a very sad day for cycling. The only positive news is that there is a verdict after 566 days of uncertainty. We can finally move on.”
"...If now I am declared overall winner of the 2010 Tour de France it will not make me happy. I battled with Contador in that race and I lost."
And this news just days after the US Feds dropped their investigation into the Armstrong doping allegations!

And Jan Ullrich lost his 3rd place 2005 TdF finish
...has responded following the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling which saw him hit with a two-year ban and his results from May 2005 until his retirement in February 2007 annulled, including his third-place overall finish in the 2005 Tour de France.
In a statement released on his personal website, Ullrich said that the lengthy legal wrangling over his case was "incomprehensible" while explaining that he would not appeal the CAS decision, "Not because I agree with all points in the court's opinion, but because I want to finish the issue definitively," he said.
