Ricco is a jerk, but I can't believe he finished the time trial in the Tour of Austria like this after crashing (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/photos/riccos-tour-of-austria-in-question-after-time-trial-crash/130258)

Continued speculation that he'll sign with Riis. (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/contador-to-decide-2011-team-this-week).

Riis has acknowledged the Schlecks will be leaving Saxo at the end of the season to join the new team. (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/riis-admits-that-schlecks-will-join-new-luxembourg-team?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=news_headlines) This can't help the team unity for the Tour. With the top riders leaving, does this kill any chance Riis has to get a sponsor and continue Saxo Bank next season? Riis has also indicated Fugslang is likely to be joining the new team.

It looks like it's official: the Schlecks are outta there....
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/schlecks-and-riis-part-company

But it still sounds like Riis already has new sponsorship wrapped up (Specialized, Sungard, and there are rumors that the main sponsor may be Siemens....none of that has quite the same ring as Sexy Back) and enough funds to pay Alberto's salary if he joins. And where Alberto goes, his Spanish Armada will follow. Seriously, those guys, like Navarro, were real troopers in the mountains....chapeau. I always felt bad for Andy since he was always alone in the mountains and Alberto usually had a squad of guys with him.

Alberto is signed with Specialized. Regardless of what team he rides for, he WILL ride on a Specialized bike. So it makes sense.

Wow, imagine what an advantage that is...Riis knows everything about the Schleks. Wonder where the rest of Sexy Back will land? I am sure Cancallara could have the pick of any team he wants.

Riis's team makes sense for Bert, particularly because of the Specialized link, but I don't really like the idea.

Bert's had the unusual experience of being the best rider in the world, and still having to fight to be recognized as the leader on the team. I have to think wherever he goes, he'll make certain he's the undisputed leader and has a lot of say about who rides with him at various races. He's certainly earned that right and I can see why he wouldn't want another Armstrong or Vino situation, but all of this seems counter to the "team first" attitude that Riis has always tried to instill.

The more I have thought about it over the past few days, the less I like this. I do not like the thought of an invasion of a Spanish armada to Riis's team (ie Contador + Benjamin Noval, Daniel Navarro, David De La Fuente and Jesus Hernandez + masseurs and mechanics).

The rumors have received a pretty lukewarm reception on Danish message boards. The Danes loved Hamilton, Basso and the Schlecks, because they embraced Riis's philosophy of how to run his team.

Now Riis is in a bit of the same situation as he was when he signed Jalabert back in 2000 - stuck between a rock and a hard place. It will be very interesting to see what happens next week.

Alberto could go to Caisse, he'd fit in well. I wonder if Sammy Sanchez will ever leave Esukatel?

Wonder what's going to happen with Sky? If they might put a lot less focus on the road teams next year and go back to doing what they do well. Track.

The track displines they excelled at were all races against a clock, hardly any with other factors like other riders and tactics mixed in. They obviously have a lot to learn about road racing, wonder if they'll keep the funding over the years to figure it out.

Instead of re-renewing their contracts, both Geox and Cunego will leave Lampre for Footon. (http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/493524/geox-takes-over-footon-protour-team-welcomes-cunego.html)

Geox management and Swiss Mauro Gianetti, according to Italian paper La Gazzetta dello Sport, signed yesterday a five-year agreement worth 50 million.

In addition to Geox, Footon and Servetto will continue to sponsor Gianetti's team for 2011.
Lots of money. Maybe Contador will sign with them?

I hope Footon uses the money to get better kits. :shuffle:

I like Footon's kits :shuffle: Tho I heard the best "excuse" for them on another forum. It's the teams subtle (or not?) way encouragine the riders to earn their national champ jersey!

I just can't see Alberto on an Itailian team, their focus might be more on the Giro...and just weird.

The Pro Tour Licence is Spanish and Gianetti himself is Swiss (who won Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Amstel Gold Race.) If they sign Contador there is no question what their focus will be. I just really do not hope they push Cunego for the GC Giro.

I think Geox will be title sponsor, so they'll have a different kit, thank god! Geox is classy.

 I misread what GK wrote. I thought Contador was considering Lampre since they were losing Cunego. :rollin: Now I see what she was saying :o

Luis Leon Sanchez wins San Sebastian (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/rids/20100731/i/r140365650.jpg?x=400&y=240&q=85&sig=TRSGLA3PE6zuAucWZPQPMA--)and gets the snappy hat. Vino and Sastre round off the podium. Some crafty riding and mind games among the breakaway and a nice win for Sanchez.
