So who wants to go see the Giro in 2012? (http://www.tuttobiciweb.it/index.php?page=news&cod=26964&tp=n) Party in Washington DC :cheer:

I think it's a terrible idea for the riders, but exciting for the fans. Official announcement expected soon.

Classics season started with a brutal Kuurne- Brussel-Kuurne (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/peloton-reacts-to-brutal-battering-at-kuurne-brussel-kuurne). The classics are usually brutal weather-wise, but this storm killed 50 people in Europe.

Interesting trophy for KBK (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/rids/20100228/i/r4163156141.jpg)

And Team Sky nets another win at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/rids/20100227/i/r318951737.jpg)

Flecha gets a fancy tophy and no stuffed donkey (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/ap/20100227/capt.34d887b039e94d5aaf5d8f54074cbba8.belgium_cycl ing_yl107.jpg)

If you like Haussler, have you been following the adventures of Barbie Barbie (http://adventuresofbarbiebarbie.com/) (they took his nickname literally). If you're not sure of the story behind a particular episode, click on the picture for some annotations.

It seems like most of the cyclists in Europe want you to know one thing - it's snowing in Spain.

George Hincapie (http://img28.yfrog.com/i/3jms.jpg/)

Steven Cozza (http://tweetphoto.com/13693074)

Danny Pate (http://tweetphoto.com/13699160)

to name just a few.

Tirreno-Adriatico starts tomorrow, with live and highlight coverage on Universal Sports. (http://www.universalsports.com/news/article/newsid=450182.html)

In addition to having Evans, Cavendish, Hinapie, Cancellara and others, this "race of two seas" also has a very cool publicity poster. (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_atrK-jBKJKY/S3qdMmXVX3I/AAAAAAAAK10/5i6YdtaO1Y8/s1600/ta2010%2Bb.jpg) (although the Milan San Remo poster is also pretty cool (http://www.gazzetta.it/grandeciclismo/milanosanremo/img/campagna.jpg))

It's a race that the sprinters tend to like (Boonen and Bennati will be there too adding some nice scenery to what is already beautiful Italian scenery), and is usually a nice weather alternative to Paris-Nice, although the weather at the start this year seems pretty dodgey.

Contador is so excited to win Paris-Nice this year, that he does a little dance to Hinault's amusement (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/rids/20100313/i/r3470586475.jpg) (ok he was really just gettin up on the podium, but I liked the pic  )

Contador may have won, but Liquigias's Peter Sagan (http://d.yimg.com/a/p/rids/20100314/i/r2770858878.jpg) got most of the attention with his two stage wins, impressive for a 20 year old.

Want to feel like you're joining the riders in today's Milan - San Remo? Juan Antonio Flecha put on a helmet cam while descending The Cipressa, one of the big descents on the route and Michael Barry put it on his site. (http://michaelbarry.ca/2010/03/cipressa-descent/)

ETA: Laurens Ten Dam who is riding in Milan San Remo tweeted this lovely spring sentiment:

F*ck the world championships Ice-Skating. I saw a butterfly today. Milano San Remo la classica primavera is on. It's Spring!

Lots of sniping on twitter. Giro announces its teams and the invite list includes BMC, but not Radio Shack. Lance and Johan indicate that the team never intended to go to the Giro because the Tour of California is at the same time this year and that is more important to them.

Garmin's Vaughter's suggests that Johan is re-writing history, and others suggest the Giro snub was a result of Lance's bailing on Milan-Sanremo at the last minute. Garmin/Vaughters and Johan/Lance - can't they all just get along?

Congrats to Oscar Freire (http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/09ieeBg0EY7Uf/610x.jpg)on his Milan-Sanremo win. He seems to be one of the more liked riders in the peloton.

Boonen slogged it out for second place (http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0e1w7n8eQ2dYk/610x.jpg)

With Radio Shack as it's main sponsor there is no way Lance could skip ToC. It's the biggest race in the country. They have to do right by their sponsors, no one in Italy cares about the Shack. Tho I am sure not getting an invite to the Giro was pretty insulting.

Tho I am sure not getting an invite to the Giro was pretty insulting.

They claim that they informed the Giro a long time ago that they weren't coming. So it doesn't seem insulting so much as redundant.
