Another emotional Cadel pic (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/imagedata/0,,6993415,00.jpg)

Nice article from the Sydney Herald about the win "sinking in" for Cadel (http://www.smh.com.au/news/sport/sinking-in-cadel-turns-into-rainbow-warrior/2009/09/28/1253989872371.html)

ETA: Bob Roll tweeted this piece of practical advice:
when digging a grave always keep the hole between you and the corpse never turn your back on a dead body until it is deep in the ground

Edited again: Taylor Phinney just tweeted that he's going to Dancing with the Stars tonight with Shawn Johnson

Guide to rider transfers. Bos to CTT, now with Bos, Haussler and Husovd That might make them the new team hottie.

I cannot tell you how HAPPY it makes me to see Zirbel going to Garmin. He's awesome.

Also, I saw Taylor Phinney tear it up last weekend at the track. I got to stand right next to him, he's like 6'5"!

He went to Dancing with the Stars with gymnast Shawn Johnson, but when they showed her on camera, all you saw was his shirt and red tie - he was so tall (and she's so short) that his head wasn't in the picture with Shawn.

He's better known as a speedskater, but since he's also a cyclist and a team doctor for BMC, here's an article in the NY Times on what Eric Heiden is doing these days (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/01/sports/01heiden.html?pagewanted=1&ref=sports).

Watch Track US Nationals streaming live over the internet. Womens 500m TT now. Team Pursuit up next. Taylor Phinney is doing a TP but not sure who his team mates are.

Scratch Races after that. Scratch races are like criteriums but on the track.

To nobody's surprise, Horner signed with Astana. They've also reportedly added Jason McCartney from CSC and Bjorn Selander and Sam bewley from the Trek-Livestrong U23 team.

You mean RadioShack, right? I would assume the Livestrong U23 team would funnel talent to RadioShack.

Valverde racing against some sled dogs (http://estaticos03.cache.el-mundo.net/elmundo/imagenes/2009/10/04/1254657073_0.jpg) (no, Piti wasn't involved)

Meanwhile, Taylor Phinney tweeted this pic (http://twitpic.com/kelxs), with a comment that he wasn't sure he should be drinking this water.

Troubled Belgian cyclist Franck Vandenbroucke (http://www.sporza.be/cm/sporza/wielrennen/091012_wielrennen_vandenbroucke_gestorven) has died at age 34. So much talent, but unfortunately so many personal issues. :( Various reports about the cause of his death (http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-sport/belgian-cyclist-found-dead-in-hotel-20091013-gugt.html) - initially reported as a lung embolism, but there are also reports about drugs being found next to his bed.

ETA: French opening an investigation into "suspicious syringes" found during the TdF (http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/13102009/58/tour-de-france-tour-syringes-under-analysis.html), including some associated with Astana.

2010 TdF route will be unveiled tomorrow. You can get up at 5:30 Eastern time to watch live streaming video on Cycling tv and Versus.com. I might consider it for the Giro presentation which tends to be voidier and more of a fashion show.
