Love the hair! But his eyes look like he had bad flash red-eye and someone Magic Marker-ed them to black. But I love the hair, so yay.

I was there at BAM for the screening last night. The film was really good. There was a Q&A with the filmmakers, Johnny and Paris afterward. Off the top of my head, audience questions were: what do you think of the NJS (it has hijacked the sport and he has no idea what the scores mean when he gets them), is he doing a quad this season (he's training it but there's more to skating than quads), how did he and Paris meet (answer: both skated at UDel, they hated each other at first but then became besties), has Evan seen the film (he heard Evan has not seen it but is nervous about how he looks in it, haha), favorite male skaters (Plush and Yags), what we can learn from Russian skating (work ethic, passion, etc.), what does he think of the Japanese skaters (they are great and have amazing knees), how does he pay for everything (he lives paycheck to paycheck :(), what does Paris think about being Johnny's sidekick (he loves it, he gets to go everywhere but doesn't have to say anything, the audience laughed at that).

Does the $11 that Johnny is pointing to signify his going rate? ;)

Forgot to add: Johnny also talked a bit about his collaboration with David Wilson this season. He said David is amazing and a free spirit, his way of constructing programs is different from the more structured Russian approach. He sounds pleased and excited about his Olympic programs.

I hope that his "contentment" is reflected in his skating this season.

Do you attend parades often, Mr. Cloudy?

I like the new hair. Lucky Halifax. Hopefully a Vancouver (http://www.viff.org/home.html) screening also works out, fingers crossed.

Better late than never. I meant to post before now, but studying got in the way.

Some pics and articles about Johnny from the August and October issues of IFS Digital Magazine.

The documentary is listed in the Vancouver festival's "sneak peek" guide, which I'm guessing is a pretty good sign that it will be shown.

http://www.viff.org/downloads/SneakPreview_full.pdf

The full schedule (with times/places of screenings) will be posted on the VIFF site on Sept. 19, and is available in print as of Sept. 19. Tickets go on sale Sept. 12 for VISA cardholders, Sept. 19 for everyone paying some other way.
