Followers of the USOC (@USOlympic (http://www.twitter.com/usolympic/)), don't forget to tell them about your favorite Olympic moment to celebrate Olympic day. :) We should send them lots of skating moments.

Jeremy Ten Tweet:

The Molson Canadian beer company just dropped off a 24 pack as compensation for not being chosen as part of their fund a champion program :P

I don't know what to think of this. Kind of an insult, isn't it?

I'm not naive enough to think that skaters, coaches, the media, and parents don't read message boards like this.

I think we fans flatter ourselves by thinking that. I think they are far too busy caring what the judges and federations think (OK, the media may care).

An insult to who? He wasn't selected (from the vast array of skaters and other athletes competing for funds) so one of the sponsors of it gave him their product. I think it was a goodwill gesture if anything. I think he thought it was humorous but I don't know him personally. Just the sense I get from his other Tweets.

Oh, I know, and I agree. I suppose "insult" was a not the word I was looking for. When I read it, my first interpretation was, "Sorry you weren't selected. Here's a case of beer, that should make you feel better".

It is kind of funny, though. Maybe I just felt sad that he wasn't selected.

I don't think of it as flattering because I'm sure you're right that they are too busy and frankly I hope that most don't read the ridiculous things that some posters come up with. My point was that I wish the negative, rude, and sometimes downright mean comments made about skaters were never read by the skaters or families but I fear that they are. I'm sure, though, that they are smart enough to ignore it.

I wonder if she has any proof her skates were stolen or if she's just overreacting. If her bags were lost, they were lost, not stolen. If they're on another flight, coming in later, they're on another flight, coming in later, not stolen.

I have a ticket to that event, so I hope ( perhaps selfishly ) that she gets her luggage back. My brother lost his luggage on a flight from Florida to Connecticut several years ago. The airline had it delivered 2 days later.

I think that's probably what it is. I have lost my luggage several times and I always freaked out quite a bit. It's the 'Oh, my favourite dress is in there' or 'My laptop', for Caroline it's most likely 'Oh, my skates'. I think she'll get her stuff back. 'Stolen' luggage often is returned because people notice when opening the bag that it isn't their, just the same type and return it. Happens quite often. My brother once took a bag of someone else home because he thought it was his...

Let's hope they manage to find it asap.

Apparently, the person was caught on camera carting off her suitcase so she's not just imagining things. Hey, Bob, I thought you were gonna see Caroline in the show and not hang out at the airport? :P

Maybe now that she's gotten rid of those nasty ol' skates, she'll suddenly be skating with increased speed and power plus less of a mule kick? :D
