The EPL top five standings for the moment are as follows: Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U, Blackpool, and Fulham. Hope Blackpool enjoy their stay at the top because my suspicion is they are not going to stay there long. LOL But Liverpool is the biggest surprise because they are waaaaaaaaaaaay to the bottom of the table in 15th spot. Still of cause very early in the seaon but a terrible start for them. Meanwhile at this RPL match there was two red cards shown, one per side. There appears to be no less than 3 footballers hobbling around on the field, and the CSKA coach is "aging by the minute". LOVE those English commentators.
Top clubs all over Europe had it rough over the weekend and many of them are in the Champions League which resumes on Wednesday. :)

LOL And in the most lopsided win of today Barca beat Panathinaikos 5-1 while Inter-Milan tied 2-2 with Twente which includes an own goal by Diego Milito. Here is the full list of today's results.

Six minutes of overage because Antonio Valencia broke his ankle...awful accident, he'll probably be out for at least the rest of the season. I'm so glad they didn't show the replay again and again and again...

The Milan-Cesena game was surreal...Ibrahimovich misses penalty shot, Ronaldihno played a completely different game than the rest of the team, Rodinho's shot hits the post...
Several news bits outside the CL to mention and first off Toronto fc have fired coach Mo Johnson and manager Predrag "Preki" Radosavljević because of poor results. Assistant coach Nick Dasovic will take over coaching duties.

FC Bayern München is filing charges against the head of UEFA's decipinary committee Peter Limacher for defermation. I believe the someone somewhere issued accusations that Bayern was involved in match fixing way back in 2008 in a game involving Zenit fc. UEFA has denied any such accusation has ever been made or that is has evidence of such.

The FIFA inspection delegation is now in Qatar who is confident that they have a very strong bid. But the down side is that Qatar is very hot in June and July when the tournment takes place. But Qatar says it will have specially built stadiums which they intend to dismantle and donate to other countries once the WC is over.

It was a banner day for the EPL with both Chelsea and Arsenal winning by HUGE margins. Nice job by both and no upsets today except perhaps Basel lost to someone named Cujl. Good job by the newcomer but Basel should have done better IMO. LOL Just a reminder UEFA's site has highlights of all the games available free of charge for anyone interested. :)

Under 17 Women's World Cup happening in Trinidad & Tobago at the moment and Ireland play Japan in the quarterfinals tomorrow. Oh the conflicted loyalties. :drama:
Here are the results from the rest of today Europa League matches and it looks like the EPL including Liverpool (FINALLY!) had a winning day today. Does not look like there were any upsets.
Dortmund 4-3 Karpaty
PSG 1-0 Saville
Nipoli 0-0 Utrecht
Liverpool 4-1 Steaua
Beşiktaş 1 - 0 CSKA Sofia
Porto 3 - 0 Rapid Wien

Stuttgart 3-0 Young Boys
Gatafe 2-0 OB
Metalist 5-0 Debrecen
PSV 1-1 Sampdoria
I have to say that for Juventus yesterday to draw 3-3 with the Polish team Lech Poznan was considered an upset. Especially since they were at one time behind 2-0 and Juventus is considered amoung the favourites to win the Europa League title.
BTW... Qatar says it will allow alcohol consumption in designated areas if it is given the honor of hosting the WC. I still say no way on earth they will get to host the tournament.

I saw highlights of that game Buzz, there were a couple of outstanding goals in it.
There is this new station called European World Sports and all they should is the French 1st division and Europa League matches. Since yesterday they have had a bunch of matches on and I did see part of the Juventus v Lech match and it did look like a very exciting match to watch. Unfortunately I had to do this thing called sleep so could only watch one match and glimpse a couple. But the Europa League looks good this year with Liverpool, Manchester City, Palermo, Juventus, Atletico etc taking part. (Or is it just that I can finally see some of the matches?! ) Villareal v Dinamo Zagreb just started and since I cannot remember the score I think I will catch the game. :)
Oh yeah and Real Madrid says Mourinho will not be allowed to coach the Portugese NT for their two upcoming Euro qualifiers in October against Denmark and Iceland.

Sevilla has filed an official complaint with UEFA over an allegation of identity fraud involving Paris Saint Germain's 24 year old goalkeeper Apoula Edel. It is alleged that Apoula is actually a 29 year old named Ambroise Beyama. The allegations are not new and have been made before by the former National Team coach of Cameroon Nicolas Philibert. If proven not only could Edel lose his freedom, but Paris Saint Germain could lose the points they gained in all games which he played. That includes the three points they gained in Thursday's Europa League match against Sevilla. The team could also face expulsion from European competition.
