Liverpool is curently behind 0-1 (1-1 on aggregate) to a team who's name I cannot pronounce let alone spell. Not a good day for team I back I guess... Come on Liverpool! :cheer2:

Why, oh why AC Milan always has to end up in the same group nas Real Madrid??? Usually I wouldn't be that worried any team lead by Mourinho is dangerous and plus we have Ajax in our group! :drama: Groups like B, D and H are a complete joke, and even in the others there are 2 favourites at the best that would battle for the 1st place but since there are 2 teams that qualify it's not much of a challenge...

Group B is a bit of a puzzle to me.

Amoung the winners in the Europa League today are: Liverpool, Besiktas, Sporting, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Juventus and Manchester City. The only English side not to make the cut today was Aston Villa.

FIFA inspection committee is finished with their tour of England and will next head to Spain. England and Russia are the preceived front runners but I will not be surprised if someone else sneaks up on them while they are trading insults. LOL Perhaps Spain or the US?!

Meanwhile Javier Mascherano, who had refused to play for Liverpool in their game with Man City, has signed with Barcelona on a four year contract for €21 million. Could Dirk Kuyt be next to transfer out?

I know you want it to be the US but chances IMHO are more than slim. After 2 consecutive WC out of Europe, in 2018 it is just bound to be somewhere in Europe, even if they have to play on my grandpa's field. :D I think it's gonna be England but you never know who :sekret: is gonna offer more. Call me cynical but I believe these things are decided in a very corrupt way...

With something this big and secretive, corruption is almost unavoidable unfortunately. If the US cannot get 2018 I hope they get 2022 at least. :shuffle: In any case I do not think giving the WC to England is the best thing for the tournament. ENgland is saturated with football already and FIFA is in this big spreed the footie luv type mode. :slinkaway

Today there was the Europa League draw and Juventus and Manchester City have been put together in group A. Should have many juicy games coming out of that group! Hope I get to see lots of them. The Europa League looks great to me this year for some reason. LOL

Buzz, you see the 80 yr old Ryan Giggs totally torch Jon Spector today and draw the penalty? Just blew by the American and forced the foul. That guy has the legs of a 22 yr old.

We had like the craziest weekend of football in Germany in the Bundesliga (our first league). Bayern Munich lost 0:2 against Kaiserslautern, who were just promoted this season to the first league. Bayer Leverkusen (with Michael Ballack) lost against Borussia Mönchengladbach 3:6 - which is simply crazy, because Gladbach is, well, Gladbach! It's a small city with a rather poor (financially) football club. Another cool result was Wolfsburg (German champion of the 08/09 season) against Mainz (also a rather small club) 3:4. Wolfsburg was leading 3:0 at some point, but still lost...

In a major surprise, US Soccer just re-signed Bob Bradley for another four years to coach the USMNT. One wonders if they just didn't have any other options, or if Bob knew he wasn't going to get the job at Villa so he took this.

Speaking for myself, this is a disapointment. We've gone as far as we can with Bradley, now we are stuck with another four years of poor choices for starting lineups....:(
