Just a few quick notes:
1) Maradonna vows to run naked through Buenos Aires if Argentina wins the WC.
2) Netherlands beat Mexico 2-1 in a friendly
3) Czech Republic beat the US 4-2 in a friendly
4) France beat Costa Rica 2-1
5) Turkey beat Northern Ireland 2-0 in a friendly neither are in the WC
6) Matches on for tonight are: Uruguay vs Israel, Chile vs Zambia
#3 = The USA used this as a way to determine how to cut the squad from 30 to 23 players. Consequently most of the "name" players -Donovan, Dempsey, etc - were not even in uniform for this game. Bob Bradley also played a few players out of position to see if they'd perform acceptably as an emergency fill in if needed. Some interesting decisions were made in selecting the 23 man roster that will go to SA:

Brian Ching, a mainstay during qualifying, was not chosen. Findley was chosen in his place to add speed to the front line and Gomez & Buddle because of their current scoring form in the Mexican League League & MLS respectively. Most of the other choices were expected, IMO. Even Gooch's selection after coming of a knee injury 7 months ago.
Here is the roster as presented on ESPN yesterday:

#5 = The USA plays Turkey in Philly Saturday Evening. The players used in that match will give us a very good indication of Team USA's starting 11 & their replacements/substitutions. They fly to SA on Sunday. Their next game is another friendly against Australia on June 5th, which will undoubtedly show the chosen 11 for when the USA opens WC play against England on June 12th.
The big dance is about to begin...;) Let the good times roll!!.....:D
NJL (we'll see if the much maligned Bob Bradley has done well or not...if this squad carries us out of group play, he's done well....not doing so will be seen as an abject failure by many...:)...)
