OMG - another Wolves fan - yyyyeeeeesssss!!!!! :) :D :)

I'm just glad we stayed up this year - I hate to ping-pong from Premier to Championship!!!! And I've already blocked out my dayes as well come June!!!!!

yeah I will enjoy watching too - even though I have been whining about my hubby :P Yes me too so glad Wolves settled down a bit more this year.. I do like Aston Villa as well - my whole family (parents/siblings - not hubby) are huge Villa fans and its been funny to see the teasing as they will end up higher up the Liverpool this year  I go and visit sometimes on a Saturday morning to their house and it involves yelling, screaming and they even arrive in their villa shirts - lots of fun..

It rrrreally hurts my heart to see the financial trouble both Man U and Liverpool are in partly because of bad management by the clubs owners. :(

England's bid to host the 2018 WC has hit a snag. The chairman of the bid committee in a private conversation accused Russia and Spain of conspiracy to bride referees in the summer's WC in Spain's favour in exchange for Spain dropping out of the race to host the 2018 WC. There is no evidence to support the accusations in addition it is forbidden to discuss other countries bids. So the English FA is n major damage control right now.

Germany's captain Micheal Ballack is out of the WC because of an ankle injury. He is the lastest of a list of big names who will not be going to the world cup including Ronaldinho.

Unless this can be totally discredited, this is really bad news. Not only does it put the bid process in danger, but the more important allegation of people conspiring to bribe WC referees is extremely troubling. This sport has had issues in the past with referees being on the take, and this will put the results in question if we see questionable cards or PK's in SA.

FIFA is investigating the allegations but not everyone is taking Lord Triesman's statements seriously. Personally I have a hard time believing anyone even the Russians would put themselves at risk to help someone else win games but not themselves. And if they are bribing officials to win games clearly they sould be asking for their money back. LOL Especially since they are not in the WC for the 2nd time in a row.

Check out this documentary opening tomorrow May 21st 2010 called "After The Cup: Sons of Sakhnin". It is all about the Arab Israeli football team Bnei Sakhnin and their sudden success at the national level using a mix of Jewish and Arab players. Sound interesting.

One Canadian footie fan, a recent convert, wrote an interesting and funny column about why he will be touring Europe during the World Cup instead of going to South Africa.

The latest on the Glazers and Manchester United's mounting debt. Interest on the club's debts is going up fast and the club may not have enough money to spend on new players. The Glazers are still asking too much for the club and still refuses to sell anyway. But The Red Knights are not giving up.

Kaka's such a tease ...maybe that's why they got a second Brazilian to, um, honor their flag :shuffle:

I haven't read this whole thread, so sorry if this is already posted, but football/soccer fans may want to pick up the current issue of Vanity Fair. (http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2010/05/world-cup-cover-story.html&style=&source=vanityfairmag&service=bit.ly%20)

I just saw it today on facebook and was on my way to post it. :D It's amazing and it makes me even more impatient for the actual games

But first, tomorrow we have Champions League final (it's on Saturday instead of Wednesday for the first time since...I don't know when but it's a lot). The city of Milan is putting a few big screens on some central places so that people can gather and watch together and I can already sence the excitement in the air...
