David Beckham may have torn his left achilles tendon and could be out of the World Cup this summer.

CSKA Moscow has defeated Sevilla 2-1 and will move on to the next round, so too will Inter-Milan after downing Chelsea 1-0. Today Barca is at home to Suttgart while Bordeaux is at home to Olympiacos.

Heck, Becks wasn't going to start, and it's hard to say how much he'd even play. But no one guy is big enough to impact the WC one way or another, not even DB.

The CL resumes this Tuesday 30th March. Just thought I would mention that Wayne Bridge has now to pay double the monthly child support payments of 3,000 Britsh pounds per month to 6,000 per month or 72,000 pounds per year to his ex-girlfriend. This is the same girlfriend who cheated on him with his team mate John Terry. Terry by the way is married with three children. I do not normally care for the personal lives of footballers but this stuff is just too juicy to ignore.

Question for all you hardcore 'footie' fans: Is the acronym W-A-G for "wives and girlfriends" used only in Europe or is it the worldwide term for the wives, girlfriends and baby mamas of pro soccer players? :)

AFAIK the term is mainly used by British tabloids to discribe the wives and girlfriends of the English national team.

Well, the new MLS season got underway, and my new look LA Galaxy took care of a mediocre NE Revolution 1-0. The Galaxy are breaking in three new Brazilians who look to have some talent. But this team needs to win as many games as it can before Donovan leaves to be with the USMNT, as after that this team will be hard pressed to score with Donovan and Becks not with the team.

Overall, the league looks in good shape, and the new Red Bull Arena in NJ is a American Soccer Palace. And the Red Bulls win was a nice opening for the place.

Lyon beat Bordeaux 3-1 and Bayern beat Manchester United 2-1. :( I am so bummed about Man U's defeat but I am sure that they will bounce back in the return lef. :) Good luck to all the teams tomorrow. Arsenal plays Barcelona while Inter-Milan plays CSKA Moscow.

I believe that is correct and I am mortified to admit my 17 year old niece's greatest ambition is to grow up to be a WAG :o

They lost on Rooney's deflection of a Franck Ribery shot off of a free kick in the 77th minute and a stunning steal of the ball by Ivica Olic in Man U's penalty area in the 92nd minute to score the game winner. A rare example of the Red Devils giving away a game......Worse, moments before the game winner Rooney suffered an ankle injury that has yet to be diagnosed. It may keep him out of Man U's game Saturday against Chelsea. The winner of that match could/should wind up as the EPL's Champion. Whether it will affect Rooney's chances to play in South Africa is unknown. Overall a really bad day for English football.

Saw Rooney on the evening news, on crutches, ankle/foot heavily bandaged and strapped. Apparently out for a month. Slo-mo showed bad roll-over of his ankle.
