Everton may have reached a deal for MLS player of the year Landon Donovan. I hope this deal happens, because I would love very much to see more US players in Europe. :)

POTTY Jens Lehman was caught short during Stuttgart's Champions League clash with Unirea Urziceni last night.

Strong rumors, including one that says it's a done deal, are circulating that Landon Donovan will go on loan the EPL side Everton in the January transfer window. The loan is supposed to last until the end of February, then he'll return to the Galaxy for the 2010 MLS season.

NJL (...sounds interesting...we'll see what comes of all this soon enough...;) ...)

Landon desparately wants to prove himself in Europe, and especially the EPL. Everton is a great fit for him because they are struggling and could use a shot in the arm. And as a Galaxy fan, I have no problem with him doing this.

It's a done deal, Landon starts on Merseyside in the beginning of Jan.:

The Toffees better play him, I hate it when Americans go Euro and then sit on the bench. I'm looking at you Freddy Adu!

LOL @ KHenry14

Barca just won the world club championship. I believe it is their 6th title in one year. Congratulations to them.

Still, the info you posted, especially the source of the link, makes the mistake worthwhile.

Considering that he just signed a new 4 year deal with the Galaxy/MLS I feel his stay will be too short for him to make much of an impact. Never-the-less it is an interesting signing & I wish Landon the best.

American players are not good compared to other countries's players. Why shouldn't they sit on the bench when they go to Europe? Yes, Freddy Adu would have been better off playing for the Ghanaian national team maybe then he would be recognized as the next Essien, it he's as good as he thinks. Right now he's a candidate for 'where are they now'. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chrisbevan/2009/11/freddy_adu_footballs_forgotten.html

I am not sure about that. They said something similar about the Russian Premire League as well. But then Inter-Milan and Barcelona had to fight to the last game to earn their places in the next round and of Course Barca lost 2-1 Rubin. Since then I would not count anyone out completely. I sincerely hope Donovan proves his doubters wrong :)

I also think one more reason Landon wants to do well in the EPL is to erase the memory of him choking his PK shot in the MLS finals.;)

I don't know if Freddy would have been better off football-wise to have joined the Ghanian team. He'd have less comptetion than on the USA team for playing time...but his issue is playing time period. Be it Benfica, Monaco or wherever.

American players need playing time in Europe, it does them no good being on AC Milan if they are on the bench. They'd be better off on a lower division team as long as they got on the pitch.
