But there is nothing to be done now but for the Irish to hope for better luck next time. Maybe they, the Russians, the Costa Ricans and Bosnians can buy each other a pint or two. LOL

Why?

To drown their sorrows. ;) It was meant to be a joke.

On another note, UEFA has launched one of their biggest match fixing investigations ever. Over 200 games are under suspicion.

The #8 seed in the MLS playoffs, Real Salt Lake, defeated the #1 seed, the LA Galaxy, 5-4 in PKs after playing to a 1-1 draw at 120 minutes. Congrats to the underdog champs. Proof once again, if any was needed, that the regular season in any sport with a playoff system is just a method of seeding the teams to compete for the Championship Cup. RSL made the playoffs with a losing season & still winds up as MLS champs.

NJL (..and players from the RSL roster will be going to various European teams before that next season starts... in sport money does not talk....it screams...;) ...)

Good luck to them. American futebol players has had mixed success in Europe. Must admit I do not follow the MLS, but I did see the highlights on tv. LOL

:( Galaxy

Rubin and Dynamo just drew 0-0. Braca and Inter plays later today, a loss by Bracelona could have meant they leave the competition, but with the Rubin draw they are very much still alive.

11-24-2009, 08:27 PM
Braca leads Inter 2-0, Liverpool leads Debreceni 1-0, Fiorentina lead Lyon 1-0, Stuttgart leads Rangers 1-0, and Arsenal leads Standard 1-0. The other two games are 0-0.

11-24-2009, 10:21 PM
Arsenal, Fiorentina, Lyon, Man U, Bordeaux and Chelsea have all qualified while the other places in the knock out round are still up for grabs. Especially in group F, but Barcelona now tops that group and is in the best position to qualify. However all four teams still have a chance to qualify for the next round. Liverpool's chances of qualifying are gone and they are not doing well in the premire league either. Finally unpredictability has crept into the UEFA CL. :D

CSKA vs Wolfsburg on now and Wolfsburg leads 1-0

11-25-2009, 06:53 PM
CSKA vs Wolfsburg now 2-1 for CSKA

11-25-2009, 07:18 PM
And so it is, a win for CSKA with the only yellow card of the match coming in the 87th minute. Pretty cool. :)

Milan leads Mersaille 1-0 with only 15 minutes gone. Ronaldinho is back. Not sure why but I just do not like this guy at all.

11-25-2009, 08:03 PM
Oooops.... Mersaille just drew level so it is now 1-1, and APOEL leads Atletico 1-0

11-25-2009, 09:48 PM
Manchester United lost to Besiktas 1-0 and I am in total shock! Man U I guess did not much care about this game since they have already qualifed. Just do not know how else to explan this loss.

Just a few notes I wanted to mention...

1) Avram Grant has been given the job of managing Portsmouth FC and as a present for their new coach, the team lost 4-1 to Man U. LOL
2) Spurs is hanging on to 3rd spot in the EPL. I wonder how long that is going to last...
3) Rubin Kazan retained their Russian title but is set to lose some of their best players by the end of the transfer season.
4) Chelsea best Arsenal 3-0 to increase their lead at the top of the EPL to 5 points
5) Barca best Real Madrid 1-0 on sunday
6) According to FIFA's rankings Spain is now world #1 with Brazil 2nd and Nederlands 3rd. The USA is 14th, Mexico is 15th with Canada 57th. :slinkaway
7) The US national team played two friendlies against Denmark and Slovakia an dlost both. I hope that is not a sign of things to come during the WC next year.
8) Manchester City would love to add Fernando Torries to their roaster.
9) Guus Hiddink maybe going to Manchester City. Well it is not like he has anything better to do especially since Russia is not going anywhere anytime soon. LOL
10) German police make at least 85 arrests in football related violence in various German cities.
