After the 1st goal in the 46th minute you had any doubts? All that non-call did was keep the score closer. Brazil's win was inevitable from minute 46, you could see it in team USA's body language; they no longer believed.
Tough, tough loss for the USA. They had it & they knew it. Then they gave it away. They still can't run with the big dogs...:(
NJL (discouraging....still,it's the best tournaments they've ever had, despite the 2W-3L record....maybe they learned a few things for next year....;) ...)
ETA: To answer my post #146: both USA teams showed up....each played a half...:(

This is really true. Add into that the real Brazil showed up in the second half. :D
The other good news is that TV ratings for this game were the highest ESPN has ever got for soccer outside of a WC game. That means we will likely see more games on ESPN in the future.
Here's hoping Freddy Adu might see some time on the pitch in the upcoming Gold Cup.

The tournament run helped Brazil in the rankings:

The USA went up a couple places - 14th to 12th.
And, for the women:

Note that Korea GDR - North Korea - is up to 5th.

Some Chelsea transfer news; Ancelotti says Deco and Cavalho are not going anywhere, and Yuri Zhirkov is their latest signing. Meanwhile Renaldo says the record price paid for his services is a fair price. Time will tell...

USMNT beats Grenada 4-0 on Saturday in the Gold Cup. Nice performances by a lot of kids getting their first caps, notably Stuart Holden and Robbie Rogers. Rogers in particular looked good on the left side of midfield.
And Freddy Adu played 90 minutes and had a goal, but also looked pretty rusty.

I doubt he'll get as much attention, but there is a strong rumor that USA International Oguchi Onyewu has signed a 3 year deal with AC Milan. I think that this makes him the 1st player from the USA National team to actually be contracted to one of Europe's elite teams. If this is true then my congrats to Gooch! If I find a definitive link that verifies this I'll post it.
NJL (Good for Gooch....his play in the Confederations Cup, among other things, paid off...:cheer: ...)
ETA: This "Official Announcement" on the AC Milan site seals the deal:

Congratulations to him. That is great news! Hopefully he is only the first with more to come. :)
